Ah, grasshopper, the answer begs a new question....
Savor your moments in the world around you, for you cannot save it. But in each moment save that which you can for good, and you will surely have a lifetime worth savoring....
AKA, the answer is DO BOTH!!!!

Not to save the world, that is the thing,
To comprehend, perhaps, the spheres of grace
But let each ragged moment have it's place
To nestle knowledge in the gifted brain
But speak also of poverty and pain
To beckon beauty with an open heart
But let each heartless heathen speak his part.
Not to save the world, that is the thing,
But to savor a world worth saving..........

Wonderful question.
I savour the world every day. Saving the world is part of this, educating, preserving, enjoying, raising awareness, changing ones behavoiur. Both are an ongoing processes. Never a need to choose..although some do.
I love this question, its so rare to find an inch of intelligence on this site :) Gold star for you!

Deep down I want to save it, but keep realizing how much we deserve what we're getting and decide I'd rather just savor it until it pops.

Only God can save anyone. I savor every moment that I am doing what God wants me to do.
