it seems to me that they say that being out of work is one of the most stressful things a person can go through, so, yes.

MMM if I understand you correctly you are asking if not working can cause a anxiety disorder?
People are predisposed to mental illness's. I do not feel one just gets anything but it is predisposed in our genealogy makeup.
Stress is very bad for someone. Those who have anxiety issues within there family are going to be more prone to developing a full fledged anxiety disorder.....
Talk to your parents and ask if there is mental disorders within your family. BTW this is not a easy subject for families to talk about. Many family's with mental disorders are so hush hush about this that some family members do not even realize there own parents had anything wrong.
Society does not (even today) look upon mental illness as being ok......resently with in the last 10 years or so it is the illness of the century, everyone wants to be diognosed....
Us with mental illness in our family's would like there to be some wonderful miracle cure, just make it go away.....

It's not the not working that is causing your anxiety disorder. It's the thoughts you have about yourself that are causing the anxiety. Get some positive support before this becomes an ingrained habit of thinking. Some places for help: www.thesecret.tv, www.abraham-hicks.com and (my website) www.what-about-lifecoaching.com.
Hope this helps.

Regular exercise is good for that regardless of wh/nt you work. It depends on the type of job! Some are stressful or sedentary and could make it worse. Interacting with people is good, so is moving your body and having a reason to get out of bed instead of lying around depressed or anxious all day.

I would say "yes". It sounds nice to not have to work-example -if your spouse works to allow you to be a homemaker. But, it can cause some anxiety because it is a big change. It's nice to know how much money is in your account, and how many hours you need to work to pay all the bills. It's difficult to step back and let someone else deal with it and trust them to do it.

yes, of course. if you are not working or have a job there are money worries and so forth. don't jump to the disorder level. if you didn't feel anxiety about your situation you would be inhuman. a disorder is when you feel overwhelming feeling when there is very little reason...you have a reason. talk to people and look for a job.

4 months ago I quit my job because it was very stressful. What surprises me is that my anxiety has gotten worse. Not doing anything and finding a new job makes me anxious
