Apparently, the origins of Halloween can be traced back to ancient Ireland and Scotland around the time of Christ.
On Oct. 31st, this annual change of season and lifestyle was marked by a festival called Samhain. Here was much superstition associated with this time of change including the belief in fairies, and that the spirits of the dead wandered around looking for bodies to inhabit. Since the living did not want to be possessed by spirits, they dressed up in costumes and paraded around the streets making loud noises to confuse and frighten the spirits away.
The Roman Catholic Church replaced Samhain with All Saints’ Day in the year 835.

Ephesians 5:7-12

Don't participate in the things these people do. For though your hearts were once full of darkness, now you are full of light from the Lord, and your behavior should show it! For this light within you produces only what is good and right and true.

I completly agree with you. It should not be celebrated as a Halloween Day.

Most churches I know depending on the denomination celebrate it as another type of thing like Harvest Festival or Refermation party. So that way it is an alternative from halloween. So that way the church has an alternative to not go out and do the normal halloween thing.

Like our church has people from the church come If they want too. the kids do not dress up at all. the kids play games, we hear a bible story, sing christian song's. Just like another get2gether. And it has no way anything near the theme of halloween. Just another way form of people to get together. maybe something to get your pastor to do instead of a halloween theme.

Many celebrate Christmas in December right?
The birth of Jesus was not on December 31st! But many Christians celebrate it on this day anyhow right......Same goes for Halloween. The meaning of these holidays are lost in todays society.....
Might as well let the kids have some fun in there lifes......

Regurgitation is alright and all, but sometimes it is good to think for oneself.....

I don't think the average person is aware of the history of it. We are judged from our hearts. Except for the masks, I don't see anything wrong with people having a party. At least it should not be any worse than any other gathering. As long as people respect each other, nothing is wrong with it. No one is worshipping ghosts or anything as they used to.

For the same reason a lot of Christians still tell their children there is a Santa Clause, an Easter Bunny and a tooth fair. A lot of people are cultural driven. Be ye seperated... Don't follow the customs of this world.

Does Eph. 5:7-12 actually mention Halloween or is that the way you choose to interpret it?

I can't answer for others. I don't participate.

My Church has a hallelujah party. Hundreds of kids come; they play games, get candy and learn about Jesus.

It's safe and they have a great time.

I don't think Sprits are going to posses me. It's all in fun. Those that are against it are the same one's that believe that it's a sing to read Harry Potter and other inconsequential crap like that.

When I was growing up nobody every gave Halloween a second thought about being evil. I think it's what you make it to be.

ADULTS - Because Christians are humans and all humans have evil in them, it's are nature. Halloween allows them to "PRETEND" to be evil, to "LOOK LIKE EVIL" but "NOT ACT" on it.
CHILDREN - It's all about the cavities.
