I am a Muslim,

Islam means peace

There is approx 1.6 billion Muslims in the world and if all Muslims are terrorists then why isn’t 1.6 billion Muslims bombing the world right now? Islam is the fastest growing religion it has been predicted in 50 years Islam will be the worlds largest religion. So if Islam teaches violence and evil then why would 1.6 billion Muslim and those who have reverted to Islam want that?

Surely everyone who thinks Islam is bad has been affected by the mass media watch this clip (46 mins) contradicts this and you will realise what Islam really is this clip is about:

Muslim only for 30 days
Guy becomes Muslim for only 30 days to experience the in-depth of Islam.

Islam is not only a religion but a complete way of life; we can gain answers either from the Quran or the Hadith (ways of the Prophet Muhammad pbuh). As a practicing Muslim I do believe Islam and its teachings answer all my questions. Muslim nowadays are weak they don’t know much about their religion my suggestion is to any one is that read the Holy book of that religion before criticising it. 70% of the Quran has been proven by science. Also we believe in Judgment Day and the Quran describes in detail what the day will be like and also the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) also states minor and major signs (one minor sign we see today is that Time will go faster) you can view the major and minor signs on: http://www.islaam.com/Article.aspx?id=450

Islam has 5 fundamental Pillars which are
SHAHADAH-Declaration of faith
SALAH-Prayer which is the 5 daily prayers (helps us both mentally and physically)
SIYAM-Fasting during month of Ramadhan (Allows us to emphasis people in the poor world, also increases self control and makes us better people in society from decreasing sins to its minimum)
ZAKAT-paying 2.5% of your earnings to charity every year
HAJJ-Pilgrimage to Mekkah (Mecca)

The Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) was born in 670 C.E he came to change the world as it was corrupt at the time. At the time of the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) it was known as Jahiliyya (Days of ignorance). Muhammad (pbuh) was the last of Prophets sent to complete the biggest task. He was the Prophet who brought the Quran into our lives; The Quran is the final words from Allah. There has been according to one Hadith 240 000 Prophets, and Muhammad (pbuh) was the last.

Islam means submission in Arabic. The central doctrines of the religion are giving of alms to the poor, praying to allah five times a day, accepting only Allah and his prophet Mohammed, "fasting" during Ramadan, and a pilgramage to Mecca. The Sakat, Salaat, Shahada, Saumh, and Hajj. Some one who has completed a hajj is a Haji,(following the rules of Arabic), so it isn't wrong to call a devout Muslim a Haji. It subjugates women, non Muslims,(the dhimmitude system is STILL practised around the Islamic World), and results in more deaths per year worldwide than any cancer or natural disaster. Just like Christianity, it will be reformed by the true Muslims who are persecuted by oil sheiks who use their own version of Islam as a weapon.

Well basically Islam meants peace. There are many details about Islam. Well first off Allah is our God and He is one. he has no mother no father no sister no brother no aunt uncle, no relationship at all to anyone. He is one. He is the power. His messenger is Mohummed (peace be upon him). In the Holy Quran 24 prophets are mentioned. But there are billions of prophets that are not knows of. Every prophet has their own miracle. Many people think that Islam is a bad religion because of the influence of TV, movies, etc. but it really isn't. All it does is makes sense. If you read the Quran and if you take some time to learn about the religion you will find that all it does is make sense. In my opinion and in many others, Islam tells the truth and when you read about it you will understand it because it makes sense 100% and it won't sound like bull. I have posted a link below. It is a really nice video. It's only 4 minutes long. I am not preaching the religion I am just giving the link because it is actually very interesting. It is just interesting to think about. Okay. well that's about it for now.

Islam means submission to God(Allah) which also means peace. As a western muslim I realised that allot of people are clueless about the true meaning of Islam. There are 5 pillars in Islam:
1)The foundation of Islam is the belief of the One true God (monotheism) and that God is a Perfect God that doesnt get tired that doesnt eat and that is the most powerful and all knowing. We muslims believe in all the prophets mentioned in the bible Jesus(PBUH) ,Moses(PBUH) ,Abraham(PBUH) and we believe that Mohammed(PBUH) is the last prophet.
2)We are requested to pray 5 times a day.
We believe in the torah, and gospels but we also believe that they were tampered with so they are not in their original form so Allah sent down the Quran to Mohammed(PBUH) who was illiterate which answers why their are similarities in these three religions. The quran was memorized and eventually written inorder to preserve it in its original form. The Quran is a book that is meant to guide us in the journey of life.We as muslims are told that we are going to be held responsible for our actions and that being a muslim alone is not enough to go to heaven. Also that we will not be held responsible for the sins of others whether it be our parents or kids or even of Adam and Eve.
3) Fasting in the holy month of Ramadon is the act of refraining from eating and drinking. The fastings is exercised for many reasons but a major reason is to feel what the less fortunate feel.
4) Another pillar is Zakat (mandatory charity) which is given usually during the month of Ramadon. The purpose of this charity is to help those who are less fortunate.
5) One last pillar is to perform hajj which is a pillgramage to Mecca the mosque built by Abraham. This pilgramage is mandatory at least once in our life only if we are able to financially or Physically.

These 5 pillars are the foundation of islam and if you need any more info feel free to contact me.

Salam(Peace),

I'm a Muslim myself...and trust me average people dont really know what Islam is all about and if u really wanna know..it wil take time..to understand and see the overall view of it..
My dear..Islam is a very peaceful and beautiful religion...it will help u build up intelligence within your self and patience...u'll never ask for more in Islam 'cause the more u thank god for giving u a good the more positive outcome after death...islam cannot be defined by explaining/saying who the prophet is or how we pray...
its deep and cannot be understood with words until u feel it, live it and see it for yourself!

This is a good question. As a Muslim, I believe that many non Muslims do not have enough knowledge about the Islamic belief. I only blame ourselves (Muslims) for not telling people about this beautiful religion. There are alot of stereotypes.

Recently, we have seen many projects in the US and Europe show people an accurate picture of Islam.
I think that the following statement from George Bernard Shaw, (famous playwright, the winner of the Nobel Prize in Literature (in 1925) and an Academy Award) reflects
a better understanding of Islam after analyzing authentic sources:

"I have always held the religion of Muhammad in high estimation because of its wonderful vitality. It is the only religion which appears to me to possess that assimilating capacity to the changing phase of existence which can make itself appeal to every age. I have studied him - the wonderful man and in my opinion far from being an anti-Christ, he must be called the Saviour of Humanity. I believe that if a man like him were to assume the dictatorship of the modern world, he would succeed in solving its problems in a way that would bring it the much needed peace and happiness: I have prophesied about the faith of Muhammad that it would be acceptable to the Europe of tomorrow as it is beginning to be acceptable to the Europe of today."

As a global community, I believe that we should have more interfaith dialogues to promote better understanding between all faiths.

I forget some of the details, but if I remember correctly, it isn't entirely unlike Christianity. They worship the same god of the Jews, they follow an incredibly learned prophet, they have a text of spiritual significance and rules to live life by that often gets misenterpretted, and a small handful of extremists in the religion give a bad rap to everyone involved.
