He sounds like a mixed breed. However, Dalmation's spots are not large to begin with. It's also possible that he just needs to lose a few pounds.

A trip to the vet should tell you if he is full blooded. I have to wonder how old he is. Obedience classes should also help with the jumping and training. I always train my puppies with treats. To stop the jumping when he jumps before his feet can land on you, bring your knee up into his chest (You don't have to knee him hard), and in a stern voice say no. Or use a choker collar and make him sit, pull back on the collar and say sit, then praise with a treat and petting all the while saying good boy. Just a few tips. Each dog is different and training for each dog can vary.

i had a dalmation about 10 years ago. if you look on the roof of their mouth it will also have spots. dalmations have a very short attention span and also need alot of attention. think of them as a big baby.

Go to your vet, talk to a breeder - they will have the answers you seek!!!
As for jumping on your leg...that is a training issue. Some obedience training for you and your dog would be a good idea!

also depends on the age of the dog. dalmations are not born with spots. they develop as the dog grows.

Maybe it's just chubby.
And maybe the small spots are examples of his "faults."
There's no way to really know if he's of great quality unless you know where he's from, I mean, what is pedigree is like.

can't tell from your description...dalmatian spots can be different sizes and colors...you'd have to give a picture...
