i'm looking for a credit card just for emergency, i'll probably hardly use it. i have good credit for having my name on my mom's gas card, which i did so i could establish good credit. but now i want to get my own for emergencies.

If you only carry the card for emergencies, don't worry about the interest rate, it will probably change by the time you have one. Make sure there is no fee for holding the card with no activity. You may want to make a small purchase 2 or 3 time a year just to keep it active. Pay it off immediately to avoid interest.

It doesn't really matter which brand advertises a low rate; its a function of whether or not they feel you qualify for that low rate. That is function of your current credit score.
