If everyone in your family hates the name, maybe it's a stupid name. Try asking them exactly WHY they don't like it. Maybe there's a good reason. Is it spelled in an unusual way that could be made more standard? Is it hard to pronounce? Does it mean something other than what you THINK it means?

Who cares what the family thinks. Your baby is going to have that name forever...so name it something YOU like! Do not let the family name your baby. Here is an idea....Pick a new name that you both like and don't tell ANYONE!!! That way, they won't find out until the baby is born...then they have to like it and there is nothing they can say about it!

this is your baby, right? This is half his baby, right? What part of this baby belongs to your family? None of it. If they don't like the name, sorry family. Unless you are calling the little one Bozo the Clown it really isn't any of their concern. You're old enough to procreate, you're old enough to know what you want to call the result. Don't fight with the family. Agree with all they say. It creates less drama. Then when the little one is born, name it what you two want to name it. But don't argue with them now. It just creates major arguments, yelling, loud screams from people. Foo, smile a lot, nod, agree with it all. Then have the baby and ignore their protests.

Name the baby the name you and your husband agree on. Your family can speak their minds about it, but that's as far as it goes. Now is the time to set the boundaries about what you and your husband do and decide as a couple and soon to be family in relation to other family members. Your family will love the baby no matter what you call him/her. One more tip. After the baby is born and they decide they want to call him/her by a different name, you firmly state my child's name is "......" and that's what you are to call him/her. Good luck. But be firm and give your baby the name you and your husband agree on.

Who's child is this? Not your family's I hope. You will be the parents of the baby and you are the one's who choose the name of the child that you will love for the rest of it's life. Give it your chosen name and enjoy your blessing.

You name your child the name that her father and you like. Case closed. Besides there are plenty of things that your family aren't going to like. That doesn't mean your going to do every thing they say. Take the advise you like and leave the rest.

well, it's your baby so you get decide on what to name him/he. everyone will be full of opinions right now (always do when you 1st get married or have a baby) You can listen to all of them, but don't feel like you HAVE to do what they suggest. The final decision is yours to make in the end. BTW, what did you decide on your baby's name? Just curious.

casj2006 said it exactly right... your family should respect that it is your child. Like casj2006 said, as long as you and your baby's father like the name, then that's all that matters.
