I was just wondering if it might be possible that I have OCD.I've looked up the symptoms and I fit a lot of them. But thing is I only get the symptoms everyonce and while, like once a day or so. There are times when I can't use my bathroom because I'm so paranoid about all the germs in it but I don't worry about germs in other areas. I also have times where I'll stop what ever I'm doing no matter how important and I'll just clean and I have to make things neat and orderly and if I stop and it's not done I can't do anything but worry about how messy it is. Several family members have said that I'm showing obsessive behavior lately. I've also been having reoccuring fears of dying which are only helped when I do something like counting in my head or repeating poetry in my head. Is this normal or could I have OCD?

Well, this sort of thing runs in my family. I still count steps, at 29 years old, but it seriously doesn't bother me.
Now, this kind of thing is only a problem if it interferes with your functioning, and it sounds like it does a little bit.
Better to go deal with it before it's a life-long habit.
Great news, though!
There are exercises that you can do that will actually change the way your brain works, and put this behind you!
My boyfriend in college worked with two of the premier psychologists on this, and I can only remember the husband's name- Dr. Yaryura. He's based in Great Neck, NY, and anything he or his website might suggest would be a great start.

It doesn't sound to me like you're OCD, but I could be wrong of course. I think that what you described sounds normal and isn't anything to worry about, but if you are worried or feel like this is taking over your life, then I recommend seeing a professional. After all, only a qualified professional can diagnose you with any certainty.

Your symptoms sound alike to those of OCD so I guess it is a possibility you might have the disorder but I'm not qualified to give a diagnosis. Talk to a doctor or health professional to talk about your symptoms. As a sufferer of OCD myself, it sounds similar, and please seek professional guidance, as full-blown OCD is a nightmare to live with. Good luck. Take care.

The symptoms you are describing sound like those of OCD. But best to go and see you're local GP to get a accurate diagnosis.

no.... you shouldnt be worried about germs in a bathroom.... i mean how many billions of people go to the bathroom every day and don't get sick from germs?

even if you do pick up a germ its ok, you have an immune system to fight them off
