what was the mir space station and has any country managed to build another one?

pls help as i only know it was the russians who put the first sattelite in space, the first dog, first man, and they hve the record for the longest time an astronaught has spent in space but im not sure what mir was and why no other country in the space race has managed to build one?

the mir space station was a russian built space station built to last only three years but it actualy lasted 15 years, it was the platform for the new i.s.s(international space station),yes russia still leads the space race, and hve done since it started and the american moon mission was a fake, the russians never attempted it was cos they know the moon is so radioactive no one can surviive even if they get close to it ,never mind land on it, prrof will be provided as several other countires are planning to visit the moon, i hope they find evidence of america's moon landing ,like the moon buggy they left behind and other objects,,,,,ohh i wish ppl who dont answer questions on yahoo properly get a permanent yahoo ban.

Mir was the last Russian space station. It is the vehicle that all of the duration records were set on. It was in space for fifteen years and had become unsafe and prone to chronic problems the last few years it flew.

We now have the International Space Station which is nearly 10 times bigger than Mir. It is built with modules from the US, Russia, Japan, Canada, and Europe. The ISS is still being built and will be completed in 2010.

The Soviet Union built the MIR space station in space starting in 1986 and finishing in 1996. No other country has build one but the MIR is international far as I know and I also think we're looking at cutting costs by just cloning Oprah's butt and sending that into space. Peace!

The US had a space station before them. It was called the "spacelab" and was built at the same time the US was sending people to the moon.
For whatever reason the "spacelab" was abandoned and allowed to crash on earth. sometime in the 1980's I think, but better check that.
