It's made of a very durable plastic-y kind of material, and I've had it for about 3 years, during which time I've put it in the microwave successfully thousands of times. And I don't recall the box the bowls came in saying that you couldn't put them in the microwave. But today, when i was heating up some spaghetti-o's in the bowl, i heard a loud pop, and the bowl had cracked all down the side and bottom.

Why, after 3 years and many successful microwave heatings, did the bowl crack???

it probaly wasnt microwave safe. look on the box when u buy it to make sure. sometimes its even on the bowl.

or it couldve been a cheap bowl that didnt last. or it couldve been in for way to long.

Your bowl may have had a weakened area in it that was defective or you were using a non microwave bowl one of the two.

maybe it had a small crack and as it heated the plastic expanded and caused to to brake more. What is the life span of a bowl anyway?

Maybe you left it in the microwave too long.

I'd say it's simply because of the age of the bowl and the mileage you've put on it.
