It has to be replaced so just go tell him and offer to do extra work to help pay for it.

Tell him you lost your math book, and that you understand it was your responsibility to take care of it and apologize, then ask if there's any way you can work off the cost of the book. Then let him ask how much it cost, and tell him straight. That way he'll appreciate that you respect your responsibilities and he'll treat you more like an adult. Plus, maybe he'll let you earn the book and some extra money later on so you can start learning to make your own cash and have your own spending. It's the right thing to do. DO NOT LIE TO HIM! Trust me, it's almost always worse...

Tell your dad that you accidentall MISPLACED your math book and would like for a LOAN of $75. When you get a new math book then you say that you will work around the house for a month doing whatever you need doing so that you can pay him back with service.

honey I have two boys and I am telling you as a parent we aren't going to go crazy and kill you over a math book no matter the cost. Just be honest with your dad. He will probably get upset and give you a lecture over responsibility (we parents are big on lectures) but he will still love you. Don't you think he would only be more upset by you not being straight with him? He is going to find out anyway so better from you to start with right?

I'm a Dad and there are alot worse things he could hear. Maybe you could find a used one or locate someone who had already finished the course, ask your teacher for help with that. Also check out Amazon.com's used textbook search http://www.amazon.com/books-used-books-textbooks/b/ref=gw_br_bo/102-1593237-4057711?ie=UTF8&node=283155
Your best move is straight forward honesty. He will appreciate that and the fact that you did some research on an economical solution. In the mean time see if your library either has one or can locate one in their system. Most libraries have arrangements for extended checkouts whi may get you through the course.

I'm hoping your Dad won't get violent with you if he's mad, cause that would make me call 911.
But why don't you just be honest about it, sorry about it, and tell him that you'll work to pay for it, like mowing lawns, doing stuff around the house, you know. Parents usually appreciate honesty a lot! Good luck.

Well, he's going to be real mad anyway you tell him. Its best to get it over with. He might make you earn the money to replace it. Hey thats a thought, when you tell him, offer to earn the money to pay him back.. That will show responsibility, maybe even make you less in trouble.

Good Luck!!

Start off by letting him know you will work it off. Be understanding that he will be upset but follow through on trying to make up for the money it will cost. Ask him what you can do to earn the money to pay him back.

Next time don't loose your book!
