Since it's for a group of girls how about cupcakes? They're easier to eat than cake.
Bleeding Cupcakes:
1 egg
8 ounces softened cream cheese
1/3 cup sugar
red food coloring or frosting tint
6 ounces white chocolate chunks
1 recipe homemade or boxed cake batter
Preheat the oven to the specified temperature in your cupcake recipe. Line muffin tins with foil or paper liners. Mix together the filling before mixing together the batter. Beat the egg in a medium bowl. Beat in the softened cream cheese and mix until smooth. Add the sugar and mix until smooth. Add the coloring until the desired color is reached. Make the color several shades darker than the desired end result as the color will lighten as it bakes. Fold in the white chocolate chunks. Prepare the cupcake batter. Fill the cups 2/3 full with the cake batter. Place about 1½ teaspoonsful of the filling in the center of each cupcake. Bake, cool, and frost as directed in the cupcake recipe

I have done a grave yard cake, a spider and a pumpkin cake. The pumpkin would be the easiest. Take 2 bunt cakes and put them on top of each other. Icing it orange, put an ice cream cone in the hole & icing that brown. and the decorate it any way you want.

This is great for Halloween parties...and it tastes very good....its call Kitty Litter Cake...it looks just like the name....but it is very good.
CAKE INGREDIENTS:
1 box spice or German chocolate cake mix
1 box of white cake mix
1 package white sandwich cookies
1 large package vanilla instant pudding mix
A few drops green food coloring
12 small Tootsie Rolls or equivalent
SERVING "DISHES AND UTENSILS" 1 NEW cat-litter box
1 NEW cat-litter box liner
1 NEW pooper scooper
1) Prepare and bake cake mixes, according to directions, in any size pan. Prepare pudding and chill. Crumble cookies in small batches in blender or food processor. Add a few drops of green food coloring to 1 cup of cookie crumbs. Mix with a fork or shake in a jar. Set aside.
2) When cakes are at room temperature, crumble them into a large bowl. Toss with half of the remaining cookie crumbs and enough pudding to make the mixture moist but not soggy. Place liner in litter box and pour in mixture.
3) Unwrap 3 Tootsie Rolls and heat in a microwave until soft and pliable. Shape
the blunt ends into slightly curved points. Repeat with three more rolls. Bury the rolls decoratively in the cake mixture. Sprinkle remaining white cookie crum bs over the mixture, then scatter green crumbs ligh tly over top.
4) Heat 5 more Tootsie Rolls until almost melted. Scrape them on top of the cake and sprinkle with crumbs from the litter box. Heat the remaining Tootsie Roll until pliable and hang it over the edge of the box. Place box on a sheet of newspaper and serve with scooper. Enjoy!

I bake a simple chocolate cake with chocolate icing. Top it with crushed chocolate sandwich cookies to look like "dirt". Write RIP on Milano cookies and place them in the cake like gravestones. Then I weave gummy worms throughout. Everyone loves it. You can even tint some coconut green and make patches of grass with candy pumpkins on them, and throw a few platic spiders on top. Its a lot of fun.
