Erudite, are you testing the audience here? Your question appears to be asking - what is wrong with our younger generation that would discourage them from joining the military..?
However, you don't agree with the war, do you? So your question is not what it seems, but rather you are scouting for supporters of your theory regarding the useless, never-ending, hypocritical war..??

I think that they won't go because before when there wasn't a fight with Iraq going on we believed that the military was a good career a place to learn a place to get educated and be a proud soldier supporting his or hers familys but now that we are at war many many many people are suffering to the point where there are too many deaths.the soldiers are also very young going through things like killing others and seeing others being killed thats allot to go through and the reasons that they are at war are no longer acceptable by the younger generation they would rather go through the tough times trying to survive the lives that they live than to have it end so early ,not to mention, that there family's are outraged that it hasnt stopped .there loved ones arent coming home and thats the reality of why the young ones don't want to go.they want to live longer to love longer to have those memeries with your loved ones, things that when they are taken away ,you cannot get back.

You know, it took me a few years of thinking before I joined the military and when I did, things were okay. In my family all the males had served in the military except one or 2 I think. The fact of the matter is is that our war in Iraq is getting ridiculous. With that to the side though the military has been reaching it's goals and has surpassed their goals. All I gotta say is that anyone can get into a college or good job and never join the military. This day and age alot of people think bad of serving their country. If you are an older man shame on you for downgrading young people who supposedly don't want to serve. You don't deserve your freedom with such negative thinking you liberal.

Guess I will just have to surprise someone a little bit more, because I feel that president, vice president, sectary of defense Halaburton sold this country a bill of goods in order to get us into Iraq in the first place. And many of our young people are smart enough to understand that. The real pity is that the situation is forcing many of the younger generation to reevaluate their political views and take on a more liberal position.

Because they believe everyone but them has the duty to serve and protect their country against all enemies of the constitution, foreign and domestic. They don't understand what it means to be a part of something larger than their own selfish world.
"We use words like honor, code, loyalty. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent defending something. You use them as a punch line! I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to someone who rises and sleeps under the very blanket of protection I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it! I would rather you just said "thank you" and went on your way, otherwise I suggest you pick up a weapon, and stand a post."

Active duty recruiting. All services have met or exceeded their recruiting goals for fiscal 2006.

Active duty retention. Overall, the active duty services exceeded retention goals across the board. The Army, Air Force and Marine Corps exceeded fiscal 2006 retention goals in every category. The Navy retained in high numbers at the outset of the year, but a focus on physical fitness test performance led to an increase in disqualification among first-term sailors.

Both the Army and Marine Corps are meeting their recruiting goals.
Or maybe you would like it if our military were disbanded and we just let whatever country come in and take whatever they wanted?
I would suggest that they start with your place. In support of this effort, you should immediately send all of your possessions to North Korea you pansy.

Over the last decade (way before the war) recruiting goals have been hard to reach. BUT don't worry about us. (which I know you don't) Most of the units overseas are at over 100% strength.

I'm guessing that they figured out that you have it. The smoking gun. The evidence. The potential weapon of mass destruction you've have been looking for as your pretext of invading Iraq. There's just one problem - it's in North Korea.
