I'm about to start a regime where I am going to gain 20 lbs. I have committed to it, I'm just wondering if it's worth it. ... so I guess I'm feeling kind of empty. Just broke up with a girlfirend that was 4 years younger than me.

depends on how critical you will be of your appearance and your achievement. If you obsess over it and don't do well it'll ruin your day or week. Work out to feel better-not to get results. Let the results come as they will.

You will feel better physically and mentally about yourself. It will take your mind off your problems and get you into a social circle with good people. I did the same thing as you and have dated women 20yrs. younger than myself. To help gain the weight take a protein powder that is high in carbs.

Well, sure. Exercise releases all kinds of chemicals that will inflate your ego as well as your muscles.
It isn't going to solve your other problems, but it can distract you and give you YOU back.
But I gotta tell ya,
I hate sleeping next to a rock, and a lot of women I know agree.
Don't get too cut!

Working out definitely makes you feel better. When you work out your body releases something called endorphins which make you happy, also when you see the results you'll be 2x as happy!
