What if you later paste your text into Word Professional edition? Does that then give you the rights back?

Microsoft doesn't own the contents you write into Word. They own Word software. You are licensed to use Word software to create your own documents.

No Microsoft can't do that. As stated before many people have used Microsoft office to write books. I do however recommend Open Office its a free program that gives Microsoft Word/Office a run for its money. And you don't have to pay $200 a copy

Definetly not. They can in no way own the content. Many writers have used Word to write novels & such and they own their writings.

But if you want to garuntee your rights uses a free or better yet open source writer, such as Writely or Open Office(recommended).

No. You wrote it. Its like saying that Mead owns the copyright of everything you write in your little notebook.
