If God wants you to not be part of this world,("You are in the world, but don't have to be of this world") then what exactly does that entail? We shouldn't use computers/internet, television...?

It means you should be aware of what you're doing, and if/how that draws you closer to God, or drives you away from Him.
Somewhere, I think in James, it says (I'm paraphrasing) that if you know it's wrong for you then it's a sin for you. A friend of mine decided that for her television drew her away from God, so she didn't own one and tried not to watch it when she visited others. For me, television (as a whole) doesn't draw me away from God, although a lot of shows do, so I do my best to avoid those shows and make good TV choices. However, for me, the radio draws me away from God to the point that if I even listen to the radio, it's only for 10 or 15 minutes a quarter - and that's usually news radio.
Being in the world but not of the world takes diligence and being aware of your surroundings and who and what you allow around you/your home/family etc.
For many people internet pornography is a REAL problem, to the point that if they want to keep away from it, they shouldn't even have an internet connection.
It's all a matter of what tempts you, what draws you away from God and towards sin. If something does, then for you it pulls you to be part of the world.

It is not the Technology thats
Bad, but How that Technology is Used.
O.K. to use Compute's to Spread the Word of GOD.
What that means, to be In the World but not Of It, is that Once your Born-Again (Spirit Recreated) you Become a Citizen of Heaven, but Unforunately, your Still on the Earth for Now. Rejoice, you can get Rewards in that Heavenly City that you are a Citizen Of, by Going into All the World and Preaching (Telling) the Gospel to Every Creature, and you can get Rewards for Praying too, and Other Things.
So, while we are Here on Earth, WORK. For Jesus.
There ain't no Better Man to Work for, or Creator Either.

It depends. I enjoy TV for live things and it's too hard to look a live streams online, but I enjoy the internet for it's variety from videos to games. However, if I could choose only one, it would be Computer.

Things of the world could include TV etc, but doesn't have to. Things of the world was relating to bad things, such as adultry, fornication, stealing, lieing, cheating, and killing. TV itself is not bad. However you can watch porno movies on TV or the computer. and that might be exciting, but not uplifting. Then if you go out into the world and play out what you saw, TV would have been bad for you. So it is how you use things rather than the things themselves

being part of this world IMO is that we are not to become overly wrapped with with materialism and matters of "things". we are to make sure that God is first and foremost in all things.

God sent His people out to be fishers of me - bacck in those days it meant walkin a lot and talkin a lot to few people at a time -- look how many can we reached with the internet and television. however it is a double edged sword for evil and cruelty is even more rampantly being spread.

He wants us to spread the gospel...we can do that via:
- Computers / Internet
- Telephones
- TV

We don't have to receive the garbage the world has to offer. We can push the off button on all of the above.

Separated from the world means not participating in all the evil the world does. That means you can use compys, inter., and tv, but you have to be mindful of what your watching or playing.

Technology itself is not evil. It can be used for good or evil purposes. God doesn't want us to go along with the sinning crowd in this world -- don't take part in or condone the evil in the world we live in.

It means sin...
Sin is in the flesh which is the world.....
Don't be lovers of the world--pride-envy--material(money)lust-hate-jealous-.
our carnal senses feel-taste-see-hear-say- is what causes us to sin..
sinners are WORLDLY..
Believers are to forsake teh temptations and lure and desire of the world/flesh (sin) and seek that which is not of this world-meaning God's ways .
Living right--not sinful.

world is flesh sinners
believers are of spiritual world (Gods)

man cannot serve two master
God and money (materials)
