Hello, the AC rating on a laminate floor refers to the useage of the floor. For example an AC3 rated laminate floor is likely to be 8mm or 10mm thick and means the floor can be installed in residential and light commecial settings. An AC4 rating is likely to be on a 12mm laminate floor, which is currently the thickest floor you can buy. AC4 means the floor can be installed in residential and medium commercial settings. Because you are installing this flooring in a residential setting you can use either an AC3 or AC4. The 12 mm floor will sound much quieter and more like real wood. I would suggest that you not use anything thinner than an 8mm floor as they sound like a hollow drum when walking on them.

Don't buy any, It is nothing but garbage, I have it, and I've had it for 6 months, Its now dull looking, and they don't sell any decent product for laminate that will work, I've tried them all, If you want a decent floor go with BellaWood

Ikea does the best quality for me, besides being reasonable in price it is still really shiny after 6 1/2years! (We don't use shoes on it though!) and it helps when the family wear socks as it buffs it up a treat.
