CROCK POT BEEF STEW

1 lb. lean boneless beef stew, cut in sm. pieces
1 sm. can potatoes, sliced or whole, drained
1 can sliced carrots, drained
1 can cut green beans, drained
1 onion, chopped
1 can cream of mushroom soup
1 can cream of celery soup
1 can tomato soup

Place the above ingredients in a 5 quart crock pot, stir slightly and cook until done. Serve alone or with rice.

This soup makes the gravy and there's no need to thicken it. One Caution: Don't substitute fresh potatoes for canned as they will become mushy. This is good to put on in the morning before leaving for work so that dinner is ready when you return home. All that's left to do is cook the rice and heat your bread.

This is the recipe I use when I get out my crock pot:

Crock Pot Beef Stew

6 servings ½ day 15 min prep
2 lbs beef stew meat, cut into 1 inch pieces
1/4 cup flour
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1 bay leaf
3 potatoes, diced
1 stalk celery, sliced
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
1 1/2 cups beef broth
1 clove garlic
1 teaspoon paprika
2 onions, chopped
2 teaspoons Kitchen Bouquet (optional)

Place meat in crock pot.
Mix flour, salt, pepper and pour over meat.
Stir to coat meat with flour.
Add remaining ingredients and stir to mix well.
Cover and cook on low for 10-12 hours or high for 4-6 hours.
Stir stew thoroughly before serving.

I like this, it's not really a stew but if you cut it up after cooking it it is! You will need: 1 tri-tip roast (what this means is that its just a tri-tip that's been tied with kitchen twine) 1 package of Lipton onion soup mix 4 red potatoes, cut into chunks 1 bag of baby carrots On the bottom of the pot, place your carrots and potatoes. Pour in some of the Lipton and stir it up. Then, place the roast on top of the veg. Pour the rest of the Lipton on top and cook on low for 6-8 hours and voila! Delicious and very easy pot roas a la crock pot.

Use your favorite flavors. Adding potatoes will thicken it. Also, if you take your beef while raw and coat it with flour and pepper. You can just brown it in a skillet before you add the whole thing to the crock pot. This tastes good and makes the meat look a little better to eat. If it still seems runny when you serve it, throw in a little instant potatoes, they usually do the trick without mucking up the flavor too much.

When I cook it in the crock pot, the added potatoes usually add enough thickening. You could always add browned flour to the liquid.
