Some people just feel that there are too many places to go and people to see in the span of one day. They need to slow down before they hit drivers like us with little ones in the car!

I don't recommend you do this, but I used to find it amusing in my younger days. I had a car with the trunk release in the glovebox. I would pull ahead a little bit, then tap the brakes and hit the button. I tried to make sure I could see their face in the side mirror. Some of the looks were VERY amusing. Plus, for some reason, they stopped tailgating me! Now I ride a bike, and I don't let them tailgate me. I can stop faster that they can even think about stopping, so I just whack the throttle. If they try to sniff my keister a second time, then I lock up the back brake for about a half second. That's usually a wake up call, and they back off.

No, many people are really, really disrespectful of other drivers. It IS very annoying. Been there... What I do is let them pass, but if I cannot at the moment I start to slow down. They finally get the hint and pass. Once, I even slammed on the brakes!!! By the look on their face, the person almost had a heartattack... but sure enough, she backed off and even passed me very quickly... I know it was wrong to slam on the brakes, but I did (my bad)...

This is annoying. Just this past Saturday I was hit from the rear.
I was stopped with my turning signal on waiting for on-coming traffic to clear when I was hit. It was a city street, 11:30 in the morning and he says he didn't see my turn signal. Thank God a witness did. There is a couple 1000 dollars damage to my car and I'm still taking pain meds for a stiff neck. Your doing the right thing by just letting them get past you. You are carrying precious cargo.

No, they don't have any respect for others. They have control issues in their personalities. They're dangerous drivers. So what you're doing by pulling over to let them pass is probably the only thing you can do to avoid a collision.'

I completely understand what you mean. I have a five year old and its very alarming when you see someone tailing you. What I would recommend is either buying or printing a small sign that says "child on board". I cannot say that this works all the time, but it will definately let others know what is going on with you; hopefully they can read! :P
But to answer your question, I think its because they have control issues. They don't have any sort of control, thus prompting them to act like retards on the road.
Good luck and safe ventures!

I just get a good bumper sticker that annoys the crap out of those kind of people. Believe me, you aren't the only one aggravated with some people's driving habits! My pet peeve is when you are trying to get ON the freeway and NO ONE will let you in! Like where they're going is soooo much more important! In today's society, most people think only of themselves. It's always ME, ME, ME. I'm annoyed too.

People ride up on your bumper hoping that you will move over. Most highways have it posted that slower traffic should keep to the right. If this is you--MOVE. People are not trying to be rude, they feel that you are a road hazard. Besides, you never know where people are going. They could be in an emergency, in which case slower traffic could really be a disaster to them if you are creeping along in the way. Please look for the signs that say slower traffic stay to the right. It could be a doctor speeding to perform surgery on your loved one too. Please be considerate and let the police pull them over and cite them if need be.

This even happens to me during the morning commute, when I'm driving in the left lane at 80mph in a 70mph zone. I mean I'm driving plenty fast, yet there's always someone more important than everyone else behind you. I usually hit the brake for a split second to give them the message. It "usually" works. When I come up on someone, even if they're not driving as fast as I'd like, I never ride their butt. Because, as a great bumper sticker once read....."When you tailgate, you put your life in my hands."

Well I'm usually the person in the car behind you! It's not me though, it's my husband, he is terrible. I am always on to him about it, he could cause an accident if he doesn't stop doing it. Alot of the time he would let a car pull out from a side road (wave them on), then he's up their ar*e before they're on the road properly in front of him. I'm always moaning to him, he doesn't listen
