call the insurance company and find out for sure how long you will be covered, don't guess.

It all depends on YOUR insurance company. The two I have had so far dropped my coverage the day I became ineligible (quit/fired/off parents plan). Cobra for a single is about $400-500/month which is a lot, but if you do cobra than your plan is picked up from the day it was terminated. It's probably best to deal with the fact of not having insurance if it's just a temporary situation.

Cobra is expensive and if the company is covered by Cobra you can get it normally for 12 months. However, to cover catastrophe's there is "gap" insurance or short term insurance which will only cover major medical on a co-payment basis. However this will cover any disaster while your husband looks for another company.

It is 30 days. Cobra.....VERY expensive. For both of you it could be $700-$1,000 a month....more if you have kids. You'd be better off just waiting until the new insurance kicks in. Meaning he has to get another job. Or you need to get a job with insurance.

What each company does is individual. There are a variety of differnt arrangements that are made by insurance companies and employers. If you are undergoing treatment now, you can always pay $$$$$$$$ for the treatment to continue, but with a job loss ,that may not be possible.

His insurance should be good for another month and that's the cut off... Cobra is a rip off... If possible he should get a job in a few weeks and re-establish insurance with his new employer...
