My Mom used to stay at the Edison Hotel, and I think it was pretty reasonable and well located.

edison $149-200 daily

carter hotel $85-150 daily

milford plaza $155-189 daily

these 3 hotels are standard no frills hotels, but are in the best location. (times square).
