My suggestion would be to check out various Catholic and Christain churches. Catholics are christians but they also have different things in their religion too. Most likely you guys will have to come to a compromise as to where you wish to worship and where you wish for your kids to go.

You can only get through it by respecting each other as separate individuals with different views. You cannot expect each other to change religious convictions to please each other. Example: My ex husband became angry when I could not convert to Catholicism after studying it. I wanted the kids to be raised in both religions and let them choose what is best for them when they came of age. He retaliated by going out to bars when I took them to church in the evening and making life miserable whenever we attended a church or did not go to mass. He expected that I should marry his views and feelings.....like I gave up my identity when I married him. We had to marry in the Catholic church for him to be able to still receive communion. I would suggest that you do not take the attitude that love conquers all and that if you really love each other that you will work it out when the time comes to make decisions. Talk about it and come to a decision before you marry. My cousin and her husband had the same circumstance and by respecting each other, they worked it out. They occasionally visited each others churches for certain events and their kids benefit ted from both.

Have you thought about going to premarital counseling or talking to your pastor?

I heard that if you want to get married in a Catholic church, both of you have to be Catholic. If you don't want to convert, you'll both have to compromise. There are some non-denomination churches like Calvary Chapel.

I'm in the same situation. I'm Christian and my fiance is Mormon. He's not a strict one though. It's his parents that are the real problem. Do what you think is right. Talk it over before it's too late. I'm just getting married by a non-denominational minister.
