One should study religion, especially one's own, to see if it is in harmony with the truth of the Bible.
Jesus said: "This means everlasting life, their taking in knowledge of you, the only true God, and of the one whom you sent forth, Jesus Christ." - John 17:3.

Well I study religion because I think it's a dangerous force that leads to a lot of evil in the world. I keep hoping that if I better understand it I can help people see how backwards and wrong it is.

There is way too much mis-information on religion. Some have to study it to keep the truth out there. Most people who think they are fairly religious don't even have a clue about the Bible or Jesus.

I don't know how important it is but I do it because I like to understand others. We all have to cohabitate on this planet, it'd be nice if we could all try to get along.
I think that knowledge is power and you can help others and be more informed when you study something as universal as religion.

God I love your hair.
Religion is the history of humanity. It teaches moral lessons, whether you believe or not, it espouses love as the only way to salvation...regardless of religion...it imposes order on our world and gives us the narrative/myth to go along with that order. It offers continuity to our lives and links us inextricably to the earliest oral past. It is not a competitor with science, but another window, on a different playing field, in our consciousness. And can be beautiful, if we reject the ugly that comes with it. It teaches us humility and that there is something grander than our own being, our own egos. And love is always good!!!!! Love of another, the world, ones self, ones life.

To learn about God. School began as the study of religion. It evolved to being the study of everything except the study of God. That shows you that the bible is true!

Religion acts as a guidance towards our life without it all of us will do what ever our desire take us to, just like a road junction without traffic lights, everything will end up in a mess.

I think that it is very important to ask questions and study other beliefs. If more people did that, the world would be more accepting.

Because the Bible says "study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth".

I think it is important but, one has to be careful how and where they study. There are an awful lot of goofballs out there who can make you think all kinds of weird stuff.
