My significant other may have to work the day I get out of the hospital. My parents have offered to come get me and let me stay on thier couch overnight. Should I do that, or come on home and ask a favorite sister to attend me for a day or two since her husband is often on the road anyway?

Stay with your mom and pop...they will spoil you rotten.

This question remends me of a conversation I had a few weeks ago with my brother...

my answer is this...
if the parents are older than 70, they should be excused from this favor, also, it should be considered their proximity to health care options should an emergent need arrive. It is my opinion that as children age, they should rely on each other more and their parents less, as they will need each other more in the future when the parents have passed away...

I think your sister would help you, but she will need to have PLENTY of notice if she has a job, as she will need to ask off of work. The significant other can do the overnight duties?

I wish you the best with your surgery. And I think being in your own home is the wisest.

If your sister is willing and able to stay with you, you should go to your own home where you will be more comfy than a couch at M&Ds. Unless M&D have a very private and comfortable couch and you'd feel better there. I, myself, would go to my own bed.In fact, I'd go to my own bed and roll up in the covers right NOW, except there is a trip to prepare for and it's NOT my own bed anyway.

In your case, I would go with sister. Women seem to naturally have the talent for caring for sick people. Since my only sibling is a brother who is a royal a**hole, I would never ask him, though. I once had my best friend/roommate look after me after surgery, since we were sharing an apartment anyway. And he is a gay guy and very nurturing.

I personally would feel more comfortable in my own surroundings. If Sis would be willing and able to come over, then have her...you'd owe her a big favor, but that's what families are for. Good luck!

I would most definitely stay at your own home where you are most comfortable (in your own bed) and surroundings. So i would ask my sister!!!!!!!!! I am about to have a total hip replacement but my husband has to work so i am staying with my Mother but IF i could i would stay at my own home!!!!!!!!!!!!! Good luck!!!!!!!!!

You would probably be more comfortable in your own home and in your own bed instead of on the couch. I would ask your sister.

Being in your own home would be preferable and your significant other will be able to be with you when done work.

Of course. That's what families are for. I'd ask my sister though, as parents are kind of old , no need to be a burden to them myself :)

You know your situation better than I do. If being with your parents is better than being with your sister, then go that way.
