Actually water makes you lose weight. The science behind this is as follows.
Losing weight is mostly done by reducing fat in our body. So the impressive fat burner in our body is metabolism. If the metabolism rate is high, the fat burning rate is high and vice versa.
The fuel for metabolism to happen is water and fat etc...
Most of the time our body reduces metabolism rate due to lack of water.
That means, if you provide enough water, the metabolism rate will go high and more fat burns = you'll lose weight

There are zero calories in water. My son did not try to lose weight he just started drinking water (in place of sodas) and lost 9lbs. I'm so jealous. I'm working on my last 10 after having lost 40 and have hit the dreaded plateau.

You want to be REALLY careful - when I was on holiday in July, I drank approx. 1.5 litres a day of water whereas I normally don't drink very much at all, and I got really bad diarrhea ... just a warning! I did seem to lose some weight, probably 'cos I flushed it all down the loo!

Neither. Your actual weight is determined by how much fat/muscle you have. Extra water willl help you feel full so you don't take in as many calories. Some say extra water helps flush out toxins.
Other people caution against going overboard with too much water. Your regular diet already has water in it, and you probably drink juice, soda, or coffee. Massive amounts of water can also leach out vitamins and minerals.

If you also watch what you eat & exercise drinking that much water will make you lose weight. You also got to be careful & not drink too much water if you are exercising hard. It will flush out your sodium & you will get dehydrated. I found out the hard way. Its called water intoxication. You get really sick if you get dehydrated. Its best to drink gatorade if you work out alot.

It depends on the amount of calories you take in. You lose weight by cutting back on calories.
The water helps in flushing poisons, sediment , bloat and calories out of your system.
