Religious sheople do what they are told by uninformed, non-scientific religious leaders.

I concur with many of the other educated answers that one life must be sacrificed for another, however with that said - your statement that these stems cells actually help people and are being denied help is extremely erroneous. You haven't done your homework well. No cure has come out of stem cell research and they have been doing it for years. The private sector can still do it - where you aware of that? The issue is not can is be done - it's whether we legalize the harvesting of embryo's for it. Planned Parenthood is providing lots of baby's- oops, I mean fetus cells, for research.
It's still research and has a long way to go.
In fact adult stem cells have proven more capable of helping than the baby stem cells.

Stem cell research is just fine, but there is no sense in killing babies when you can get the exact same stem cells from the umbilical cord blood of baby's when they are born. There is so many stem cells thrown away on a daily basis, from every single birth.... they should really be getting it from there.. they would have so many stem cells they wouldn't know what to do with!!!!
For the record, I am completely against embryonic stem cell research... There is a much better way of getting them!

I know some people who have tried fertility treatment and they told the clinic that they wanted the extra embryos to go to stem cell research and they were shocked to learn that the clinic would not allow it. They had to throw them away. It seems to me that that is way more wasteful and disrespectful to human life than it would be to use the extras in an effort to help solve problems.
I think a lot of the people who are so opposed to it do not understand all of the different kinds of stem cells (not just embryonic) and how many practical applications they could have. I bet they wouldn't think twice though if it was them who had a disease, like parkinson's for example, that could possibly be treated if only there was adequate access to resources.

A fetus has to die to retreive the stem cells.
Many people believe with an absolute conviction that fetuses should not be killed just because the parent does not want the baby. There is controversy over this issue, but the objections remain against abortion.
If abortion rights are taken away from women, then the supply of "legal" stem cells dry up.
The stem cell issue is not against the research. It is about the source of stem cells.

I am against this and abortion also. I think the killing of an unborn baby is very wrong whether it be in the embryonic stage or not. If god did not want the child to "BE" then he never would have let it be created in the first place. I am not a religious person however I do have some beliefs just because its wrong to do something. I wish that research could be done in some other fashion so no lives were ever taken or jeopardized.

In stem cell research to do this task involves fertilizing a egg where stem cells are formed before they become say musle tissues etc. So there is a ethical battle going on saying that are we killing the life inside that egg cause technaicallyits is alive.

Because it is morally wrong...Let's look at it from the fetus's point of view, now bare with me I kno fetus cannot think, but just think, your life was cheated away by some psyco *** people that were going to be your parents that haven't the slightest moral fiber in their body. They killed you, that was your life that they just took away, you could've done great things, but they cheated you. Now I realize that it is a very neat thing they do with the stem cells, but look at it this way, if they start using them they need more and more each day, which in turn causes more and more potential parents to kill off their babies, and you know that it is wrong that people do that...So to answer your question they don't research it more because they know it is morally wrong, God had a plan for the person that needed the stem cells and if dying was in that plan then that is what should happen, I know that may sound heartless but it's not God wants his plans to work out and by using stem cells to keep people alive you are going against God, darn, you're not just going against him you're playing God...

I am against embryonic stem cell research. I am against abortion and I don't think we ought to use fetuses for research purposes. There are other ways to get stem cells. One of them is cord blood from newborn babies. I am for that type of stem cell research.

Well, currently the only way to get stem-cells are from unborn children. To harvest the stem-cells the fetus must be sacrificed. So, the argument is that you are sacrificing one life to save another, and that life that you are sacrificing is being denied their right to life.

Remember, this is still research - not a "cure" for anything. So, murdering unborn children so someone can research something just isn't okay with me.
