Sweetness, it sound like you dress not only modestly but comfortably. I love cotton tunics and jeans. As for head scarves, I have to wear one or a hat in the summer because of my lupus. I'd like to see them try to liberate me. You do what you need to do to make yourself comfortable. Just be kind to people whatever faith you have. Blessings.

Congratulations to you liberated sister i for one applaud you. I am a white western Muslim and the last thing i am is oppressed. Why is showing you cleavage thought of as liberating? You cant look at what i have, what they have they are giving away for free for any Tom, Dick or Harry to look at, No thank you... Keep your "liberation" to yourself I live in the UK and no one tells me what to do whether i wear a head scarf or not. You are free sister, free from all the consumer, you have to buy, you have to look like, you need this new, you cant live without one of these..... They should worry about liberating themselves. If it makes you happy then wear it. I had a Muslim woman tell me once that she actually felt more free wearing it.
"I asked a question about my head scarf and a person answered it by saying that i am free in america and that i should take it off"
That person obviously has no idea what freedom is.

Eh, there are many non Muslim women who wear such things on windy days and such. I don't think a scarf over your hair is that big of a deal. I think people that see it as oppression are also thinking of the women you are actually made to cover up just about everything but their eyes...now personally I think that is sad.
IMO slutty clothing is not liberation...it's sick and demeaning to women...

Freedom means you have the choice to wear a scarf or not. Being forced to wear one would be oppressive, having a choice is freedom.

hi ! u wore it no one forced u to , that is freedom itself, ARE U DOING IT FOR GOD OR FOR PEOPLE ? ask urself that question, if for god u shouldn't care what people think as long u don't hurt of bother anyone , u wear what u want, yes people may stare at u because u look different from them. But better to be stared at for being different than for exposing some flesh for the sake of fashion. Elsewhere the Qur’an tells the believing women to wear an outer garment when they go out so that they will be recognized as such. So there is nothing wrong, I think, in people looking at u because we are dressed differently from them. Our hijab is a mark of distinction, something we should wear proudly. The Qur’an says what means:
*{O Prophet! Tell thy wives and thy daughters and the women of the believers to draw their cloaks close round them [when they go abroad]. That will be better, that so they may be recognized and not annoyed. Allah is ever Forgiving, Merciful.}* (Al-Ahzab 33:59)
u may get treated differently, but what of that? If u are ill-treated or persecuted, so were the first Muslims. Don’t u get rewarded for being patient in the face of persecution for the sake of Allah? And if people treat u with a bit more respect for our hijab, what’s wrong with that?
So, my advice to you, is that you should pray to Allah to strengthen your faith and to help you obey Him. Be proud to be a Muslim and proud to walk on the straight path.
and i wish just keep u on the right path always.
good luck ,

I don't think you're oppressed; it's sad that people believe the sensationalist media and what the ignorant masses say about Muslims and how Islam treats women. It's very sad.

I wear a head rag when I haven't washed my hair, it is kind of oppressing, come to think about it. But you do what ever turns you on.

Oppression is in the mind of the beholder. If you do not feel oppressed, you are not oppressed. It sounds like you have made your choices, and you are free to do as you please concerning your raiment. I wouldn't worry about other people trying to convince you that you are oppressed when you do not feel oppressed. Tell them that you are fine, and ask them to respectfully butt out.

Probably while you shouldn't have essential stuff on your head, then you may also have to have breast implants, blond hair, tons of makeup, too anorexic, 1 surgical procedures, and a large butt. But it might simplest be your resolution. No one is pressurizing you.
