We definitely believe in Jesus Christ as the son of God.
Col. 1:15 states that he was the first thing God ever created and through him all other things in heaven and earth was created.
I get so tired of people saying that who know nothing about Jehovah's Witnesses. We do not celebrate pagan holidays.
Jesus was not born on Dec 25, that came down from ancient sun worship. We do not believe in lieing to our children about a myth Santa Clause is a lie. We do however celebrate the day he was resurrected from the dead, our memorial celebration.
Not with a sex symbol Easter rabbit and colored eggs but by a real rememberance of his life and death and the taking of the bread and wine. People write here who are not JW's as if they know us and I get tiried of it. We do not believe a loving creator would put you into eternal suffering. We believe hell is the grave.
Isn't death enough punnishment? We believe the earth will one day be a paradise where people can live in peace on the earth.

Do not believe in sex outside marriage, so you don't see the levels of STDs or AIDS in the religion.

They don't believe in the participation in human forms of government, so you don't have one congregation promoting their particularly favorite politician, while another of the same religion promoting another.

They don't believe in devaluing human life, so you don't see one congregation promoting Stem Cell research, while another opposes it, because it may or may not involve cloning.

They don't believe in the participation in the military, so you didn't see JWs from Germany killing JWs from America during WWII. They even refused to work in the war munitions or support plants, thus they were jailed, in both countries.

They don't believe that children should not be taught the Bible like anyone else, thus when a JW child reaches the age of understanding, they already have a basic knowledge of the whole Bible, and not just Bible stories.

They don't believe women do not have the ability to teach the Bible so both men and women are legal ministers.

They don't believe in people being paid to preach and teach the Bible, so there is no need to pass the plate for offerings to support paid employees.

They don't believe that religious items should be sold, so they don't run a retail business in the sale of such items as Bibles, books, and religious figurines. They give away their Bibles and books.

They don't believe their Kingdom Halls are also social centers to be rented out for dances, gatherings, etc. So the city has no claim on them for property taxes because of making money for non-religious events.

The don't believe in not paying taxes, so they pay property taxes on their Kingdom Hall properties.

They don't believe in gambling, so there are no lotteries, bingo, or other money raising events in the Kingdom Halls.

They don't believe the individual is unimportant, so their congregations never get larger than 200 active members, so the individual does not get lost in the crowd.

Finally, they don't believe in participating in man made observances, holidays, or rituals, as the Apostle Paul accused Christians of doing in his time, so when you ask one what day they observe the Memorial on, even a 12-year-old knows the right answer because they think first of what Christ would say, not men.

Sorry this got a little long, but you should also know that I'm not a JW. I was disfellowshipped in 1982, for cause. Why don't I return? The best answer is what Jane Fonda told Charlton Heston when he asked why she didn't become one, since she like them so much as employees? She told him that she couldn't see herself being so dedicated to God and Christ as they are, and neither could he (Heston).
