Sometimes I wake up in the middle of the night and it feels like my anus is throbbing! It pulsates and is extremely painful. Does this happen to anyone else? I told my husband about it and it has never happened to him. I have had a colonoscopy b/c of it but dr.s can find nothing wrong.

This is very embarassing for me. I do have a diagnosis of endomitriosis, but am not sure that it what it is, b/c my father experiences this as well. It happens in various degrees, but almost always at night. Sometimes I get up to go to the bathroom and I become very nauteous and feel like I am going to pass out- I usually will lay on the bathroom floor until it passes. Has this happened to you?

One of the most painful things a person can have in that area is an anal fissure. Read about it on these websites:

In short, it is a small tear caused by constipation or childbirth and is worsened each time you poop. It is very painful and can pulsate. It is the first thing I think of when people complain of pain down there. Good luck.

My mother complained of something similar years ago. It came and went. She had tests run, nothing.......years I am talking. Say twenty so down the road she did develop a rectal cancer. This does not mean you will, so do not get scared. Just have regular check-ups and if something does ever develop it can be caught early and taken care of. Medicine has advanced so early detection is the key. You are handling the situation properly I believe.

I had something similar happen to me when I was younger... I have endometriosis. My doc told me that I had a lot of scar tissue between my bowels & uterus...pretty, huh??
When everything would get swollen in there (period time), it would all throb. Still does sometimes. Do you have any female issues like that? Might be worth looking into. Good Luck!

I was going to say hemorrhoids, but if you have had a colonoscopy they would have found something.

No, I personally haven't had that feeling. I'm sorry I'm no help. Maybe a cold pack would help stop the throbbing.
