Is there a formula or simple logic. I understand the concept but every time someone goes all-in and I have to do 2 or 3 side bets it gets real confusing. I would like to be able to just do it without having to stop and think every time.

I meant side pots where there is still betting going on after a person goes "all in"

Very easy to explain. Nobody can 'play behind' (dip into their bankroll to bring more $ to the table) during a hand.

This means, once you are all-in, if other people have more $ there will be a sidepot.

Example:

Joe has $100
Bill has $250
Fred has $225

Joe moves all-in and Bill raises all-in. Fred calls.

Joe's $100 joins the main pot, along with $100 each from Bill and Fred, making the main pot + $300 that Joe can win.

On the side, Bill has $150 left ($250 - $100) and Fred has $125. Bill can't bet MORE than Fred can call, so he receives a refund of $25. This means there's a sidepot of $250 ($125 x 2) that Joe CANNOT win. He is not part of that sidepot.

The cards are shown down and the best hand between Bill and Fred takes the sidepot of $250. Then that best hand is compared to Joe's hand. The best hand from those two wins the main pot.

If you mean side-bets, do nothing, they are aside from the game.

If you mean side-pots, then literally hold a pile of chips to the side of the other.

I would ask your supervisor for advice in regard to side pots. Don;t be embarassed to ask, I'm sure they will be glad that you are trying to do the right thing. They probably know the best way.

I don't really have any tips. All I can say is, it will get easier the more you deal.
