Hi atheists r persons who dont believe in any religion or any God. And I dont think anyone hates them ,maybe feels sorry that they hav,nt found religion. Good queston.Curious 2006

They follow no particular religion. Atheist means "without god." They simply don't believe that any gods exist.
Some Buddhists are atheists. Their religion does not require a god.
The hate comes from intolerance and misunderstanding. The ones that seem to have the most hatred for atheists are fundamental Christians and Muslims. They tend to believe that atheists are in league with the devil, which is not true.

Atheists are people that do not believe in any gods. That's it, that's it's complete meaning. It means nothing more, and nothing less. An atheist might be a part of a religion, if that religion does not include gods. Buddhism comes to mind. Or they may have none. They might believe in anything else supernatural aside from god and still be an atheist, or they may not believe in any of it.

No religion. Fundamentalist Christians are against us because we do not think that religiosity should be forced on anybody. Not at the courthouse, not at school. Fundamentalists typically 'turn tables' here and claim that they are being persecuted if they are not allowed to spread their religion into secular society. Fundamentalists equate lack of morals with lack of religion thereby implying that atheists must be evil. These sectarians (fundamentalists) have altered the nature of their religion back to an older version where the LAW is key and the idea that christian nations should be instrumental in world affairs. Fundamentalist sectarians rightly believe that atheists stand in their path, determined to thwart their evil machinations.

Atheists do not believe in God. They do not believe in any organized religion. And they are hated by religious fanatics because atheists tend to ask for proof of God's existence. Of course unsubstantiated books like the Koran or the Bible do not cut it. Atheists could write their own book too, claim to have been written by Freud and narrated by the spirit of Galileo.

When you ask what religion they follow, that's precisely it. An atheist by dfinition is someone who chooses not to follow a spiritual following or religion. The people who hate atheists are usually extremely coservative religious freaks who can't accept that someone would choose not to have a spirituality. There's nothing wrong with atheism. Only people who don't allow people believe what they like are wrong.
