I am a stay at home mom with a 16 month old little girl. I miss having a dog terriably ( had pregnancy problems so dog went to go live with mom, and both dog and mom are very attached now). We have a yard and I have plenty of time to train the dog. The thing is I will be going back to work someday(probably within the next year) and I am nervous about leaving a dog alone during the day. I would most likely work part-time, but I am not sure. We are home bodies so spend most of our time at home on weekends and go to the country each Sunday for the day. Any advice?

I believe I am over thinking this our dogs have always stayed home while at work and they were fine sleeping on the couch. I would adopt from the shelter.

I dont know what you are worried about. dogs spending the day at home alone is just a fact of life, and it sounds like youll put the effort in with them when your home so I think you are good to go. I would suggest adopting though, always get the best dogs from the shelter.

A dog is fine to be left at home at times! Your mom should give you your dog back!!! Maybe you can trade the kid for the dog :) Just Kidding

In a year that dog will be completely capable of handling your not being there all the time. Plus, you said that you have a yard, you can always have a kennel/run for the dog for when you're not home...

Dog...we work all day, and our dog is fine. We just spend time with her when we come home.

get a dog.... they will love you unconditionally but i am sure you knew that already.. besides your kid will love the dog!!
