I do not believe or disbelieve in god, but I also do not mock those with or without belief. As a Buddhist I practice those things everyday, not to be rewarded, but to help mankind. People do not need to believe in a higher power to be a good person...
“I have come to the conclusion that whether or not a person is a religious believer does not matter. Far more important is that they be a good human being”
- The Dalai Lama -
“Compassion is not religious business, it is human business, it is not luxury, it is essential for our own peace and mental stability, it is essential for human survival”
- The Dalai Lama -
These things can be felt, they can be experienced. I was a Christian for 11 years and never once experienced god. There is a big difference..

Not all mock people of religious faith. Nor do they not believe in God. A lot of people don't believe in religions...they are made by man and governed by men (or ruled over) and men make mistakes and sit in judgment of those who do not believe as they do. Especially Christians...from the fire&brimstone Baptist to the Cathloic right wingers...although they supposedly teach tolerance and kindness they are the first to condem a man (or woman) who doesn't follow their teachings or beliefs. Have you ever once heard a hard-core Christian be concerned about WHY a woman had an abortion without condeming the act and the woman first? Just an exzample. And maybe something to think about....

You have no understanding of love if you think we can't grasp it without belief in God. Maybe you should ask yourself how you managed to find belief in God without first a belief in love?
God is not something I feel, God has no realness to me. Love I can feel and see the manifestations of. In reality, not just in stories. Morals are logical ideas. I don't kill, steal, etc because I love my fellow humans like normal people do. I don't need to be told to avoid killing or stealing, etc because they obviously hurt other people. Goals are based on reality. If my goal is to build a house everyone can see it is real once they are sitting in my living room, they don't need faith for that. The past is also something real, too. We all experienced it in ways similar enough that as a whole it can be seen as real, especially since each of us has seen evidence rather than just being told by someone else. I'm sorry but I have not experienced God or felt God or seen evidence of His direct work. Every evidence people provide can be explained by other, more logical reasons.
I think the mocking comes from the suffering at the hands of Christians. It's like self-defense. I know all Christians aren't like this but many atheists are beaten or abused by Christians whether financially abused, emotionally abused, or physically abused. Also, in your lack of compassion with questions like this you are just trying to get a rude response to your rude question. After enough of biting our tongues at work to keep our jobs we finally respond to your rude and compassionless questions where it's safe. And you don't like our answers. Maybe you hate to hear our answers to your rude questions (assumptions that we have no morals, no love, no compassion, etc.) because you see how rude they truly are?

Did you know the Bible is the most proven book, artifact, thing, on this planet? I thought that was very intersting. I didnt know that. I also didnt know that there are many references from the Bible in other history books and accounts. How can you belive in Columbus and not John the Baptist. How can you believe in Ceasar and not Jesus? All you have is books and stories. In Jesus there are changed lives! I am one to prove it. I am proof. I meet new people daily that are proof. I dont need something to hold in my hand to prove the love of my parents, my husband, my kids...or Jesus. "FAITH is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen." Do you have faith? Faith when you breathe in, you'll get air enough to live another minute. You can't see it. How about the wind? All you can see are the effects of it. I see the effects of Jesus everyday. I wish everyone could.

morals dont come from god, they come from self and environment. they come from your parents. i was TAUGHT not to steal, it was through empathy i learned not to hurt others. love (attraction) is created by your environment growing up. you arent born liking a certain kind of person, you grow into it. love(sex) is natural and nothing more then a chemical reaction (which they ahve drugs for to enhance those chemicals now). the past is nothing but a measure of time such is the present and the future. goals are nothing more then things you desire. desires come from your experiences with past and present happenings. at one time it was my goal to become a computer programmer, after a while i decided not to cause i foudn out i didnt like it as much as i thought i did.

what scientific evidence do u have god is real?
have u ever heard of evolution, its real.
i don't need a religion to know i should treat others how i want to be treated, or have the fear of hell to keep me from knowing what is right or wrong.
i am an atheist but i believe in love, spirituality etc...
do u really think a good hindu or muslim or whatever is not going to go to your heaven because they don't pray to your god

What does god have to do with any of those things?
You have no *evidence* that god is real. You have faith, and if that is enough for you, that is fine. It is not enough for some people, though -- and that is also fine.

Because emotions, behaviors, memories, and dreams come from within your self, from your own heart and mind. It's not dependent on belief in an external god. If you became one of us, you really think you'd stop loving your family or whoever?
