Depends who's listening & where, I can hear a car traveling down the county road up to a mile away & even farther if the winds blowin my way, I can hear cottagers boats on the lake maybe 3 miles away on a good day.

...it all depends....
with the right antenna on the car, easily 20-30 miles. Under the right conditions, several hundred miles or more. Using a repeater on 2m, as far as you want to go...
