My radar detector works excellent picking up KA bands before I can even see the cop but i'm always so scared of lazers. How common are they for law enforcment to use? Is it only highway patrol? Are they very expensive compared to a common radar gun? Unfortunetly there is no lazer detectors and by the time your radar detector goes off its way too late. So how common are lazers?

they do sell expensive lazer detectors and jammers .. severl hundred bucks ... i cant say how effective they are or how pissed the cops might get if you jam them ... never had one ... i have a regular all-band radar detector with lazer detection but like they say once they nail you its usually too late but check it out ... most cops are ego-maniacs and want to get you with the highest possible speed so they will fire it several times ive noticed ..... if you train urself to stomp on the breaks the instant you hear it then you can get away with it ... ive done it several times ... dont be afraid to nosedive ur car they cant give u a ticket for braking ...some state troopers are the worst in my experience ... on the interstate they will hide in the bushes and just fire it once and nail u then come after you ... but around town with the local yahoos they usually fire the lazer a few times ... then if you brake quick enough you can chuckle as they then proceed to cycle through all the bands and the "detector" detector to ... thats a good feature to have .. it blips the detector off whenever they try to detect ur detector ...

Most departments have laser now but they still need to be parked to use it. With X,K and KA the officer can be in motion also laser is the only radar that can get you from behind. I love the lights flashing detectors, this system uses on coming traffic as your defense. When someone sees a cop you flash your lights at on coming traffic after you pass the cop and they do the same for you, works great on the highway.

Lasers are quite common and there is no real defense. Even radar detectors are of not much use if the officer knows how to use the standby sw. The radar does not transmit until he knows you are in range and then turns it on. Gotcha!! My best advise is to obey the speed limit and save yourself the cost of the detection equipment and the tickets.

they're the coming thing. Not only superior in accuracy the reason you mentioned is why they're so popular. Once your radar detector goes off (and a laser is used) you're already bagged.
The beam is placed/shot at the bumper. The chances for mistake a very few and laser pinches are almost uncontestable. The best you can hope for is the laser wasn't calibrated or they lower your fine.

There are lazer detectors, but you have to hope for a skip off the car in front...

OF course even the radar won't help you if they just turn it on when they see you.

But lazers are not that commom yet, but as departments start replacing many are going to it.

Most departments in Illinois have lazers and it usually all depends on the department's budget. Just slow it down a little and you should be fine!

It's spelled L-A-S-E-R and they are very accuarate and coming into use much more often. The thing is that Ka band radar is also very accurate, and if used properly, you don't know it till I gotcha.
