If me and girlfriend had had baby and he kept her last name and now 4yrs later we are getting married would you marry her if she wasn't willing to change his last name. (she is willing to change her's to schroeder but wants to keep his purdy) so we wld be schroeder and his last name wld be purdy. should I still agree to get married

Does that truly bug you? Will such a small thing as a name actually prevent you from marrying her? If it does than I guess you don't acutally full heartedly want to marry the woman. So what if he does keep her maiden name?

Is that something that's gonna wreck your marriage life in the future? Does not having your surname make him any less your kid? Or is there something else that bugging you about marrying the girl and you're using this as an issue to get out of marrying her?

I name issue is realy not a good reason not to get married. He is both of yours son and that's all that really matters. I've never heard of a situation where the woman is willing to change her name but not the son, but still it really doesn't matter. It is kind of interesting though.

if u were married before the baby she might of put your last name
but what really matters is the love u bring to this child not the name.

I would try to find out why she is so adament about changing his last name.....Maybe see if she'd compromise and hyphenate the childs last name to Purdy-Shroeder.
