pot roast, or beef stew
pot roast-

a chuck roast that will fit in your crockpot,
2 cups of water
1 beef boullion cube
4 carrots peelied cut into coins
2 celery stalks trimmed & halved
1 onion peeled & quarterd
4 potatoes peeled & chopped
2 cloves
1 bay leaf
2 tbs worchestershire sauce
salt pepper
flour

trim the fat off the potroast, sprinkle the roast with salt pepper & flour, render the fat in a fry pan, brown the roast on all sides, place roast in crockpot, add water boullion, veggies spices keep on low for 6-8 hours or set to high for 4-6 hours, maks sure internal temp is 170 degree F and fork tender

Beef stew has pretty much the same ingredients except brown cubed stew beef instead of a whole chuck roast, and add a can of petite diced tomatoes...

you could also make swedish meatballs, chicken & dumplings, chicken cacciatore... banquet makes readily prepared meals for the slow cooker but i have discovered that they are not very high quality, and are VERY salty

This is one I grew up on. Its a simple dish my grandparents made back on the farm. The recipe works well in a pressure cooker too.
1 medium cabbage
medium onions
carrots
medium potatos
ham or sausage (I like ham)

Peel the potatos. You can halve them if they are too big, but try to keep all roughly the same size so they cook at the same rate. Peel the onions and leave them whole. Remove the outer leaves of the cabbage and quarter it. Chunk the ham into serving sized portions and place all of the veggies in the slow cooker/pressure cooker. Add a 1/4 water if pressure cooking. More to cover the bottom of teh slow cooker. Do not use too much water as the key to falvor is in all of the juices. Season with salt to taste (rememebr the ham is high in sodium) and some fresh ground pepper. I also like to add some minced garlic. Let them all cook together until they are tender and cooked through. A pressure cooker will prepare the dish in 20-30 minutes. DO not over cook as you will lose flavor
