just go up to him when he's not busy and say "hey, i was just wonderin' if you wanted to go to(the name of the dance or bar or club)with me, I think we would have a lot of fun." Something like that and that should get him.

To avoid a rejection say:
Hey do u like to dance ???
If he says no, then u know not to embarrasse yourself by asking.
But if he says yes, then say: so let's go and grab his hand and lead him to dance floor.

Just act like if you where the guy, extend your hand and say "Do you care to dance", and give a nice smile. it sounds gay but it works.
