There is in Florida, a museum of the " Utopian-Society "
it was abandoned 100 yrs. ago, these people believed that the World (Earth) was encapsulated inside another Planet. They had such a strong believe in their ideas, that they secluded and alienated themselves from the rest of society....I strongly believe this will eventually happen to all religion, unless we continue killing us in the name of it.

I think it's infinitely more important to help our fellow humans and work toward the progress of mankind than to bow down to a supernatural being, but I'm not a believer.
I also believe it's infinitely more important whether a person wears a seat belt in the car than whether he's baptized or takes communion.

No doubt,in fact it would seem to me that the entire purpose of religion would seem to be to hold back mans progress. Just look at any country where religion is in control of the state and to a one they are all backwards, unadvanced cultures. They tend to hold onto violent ideas towards almost anyone not like them, they tend to have enormous illiteracy rates, and they tend to have almost epidemic poverty. If you also look back you see a long history of the church trying at every step to hold back science and progress. Today it's stem cell research, which could potentially save millions. 406 years ago it was the fight over theories in astronomy, some of which have been proven since then, that actually caused them to brutally murder one of their own,Father Giordano Bruno who among other things was convicted and executed for heresy for such things as supporting Copernican theory which said the Earth revolved around the Sun, and supporting and reinforcing theories which speculated that stars were simply other Suns that may indeed have planets around them, and that those planets may also include life. Two out of three have been proven,I guess we should just be glad they don't burn people at the stake anymore for trying to advance scientific knowledge.
PS Gee Calm down there Josh,oh poor Josh.

Spookshow I agree that it's far more important to help your fellow man, than it is to bow down to a god that carries many faces. But I feel just as everything else is this world, religion holds a purpose. It gives people direction or lack of to know the greater acceptance of themselves, and whatever name we wish to use to define that god, satan, godess, deity, Karma, It dosent mater.
Because man only learns to be stronger, and connect with themselves through adversity. And there is no one that can denie that religion is the main reason of that adversity. IT can push us to dig deeper for answers, or it can justify our good, and wrong doing. BUt one thing remains it will always be a scapegoat for mans actions, as long as man does not except the responsibility.
I wish you well

I don't think you realize the contribution to mankind that religions have made. The entire western civilization that you know and love was shaped by the very thing you obviously hate and despise. You know why the vast majority of the western culture became literate? To read the bible. Do you know who built the majority of hospitals around the world? Christians. Do you realize the intangible benefits of the countless millions of saved souls? That one has seemed to escape you entirely.
Please stop spewing your bigoted hate.

Maybe you'll see the point someday. Things (computers, technology, molecular chemistry) don't make the world a warmer, happier place. Human beings acting in love do. How much greater would our world be if we all took care of one another. We wouldn't even need half of the technology we're addicted to.

Apparently. It's really too bad. Well, only too bad if you decide to adhere to Christianity, I guess. Otherwise you can feel free to help humanity all you want!

Yes. Man will not progress properly without putting God first- God helps progress, He doesn't impede it. But we must put first things first.
