I think you have a good question - but look at the situation this way:
Did you see the movie "ray" - the movie about ray charles? Well, that movie was about 80% real but some parts are added for dramatic and artistic effects. Was the 20% a blatant lie or the director' way of more easily explaining a complex situation or something that is much more drawn out? Well, the answer is based on what the 20% was all about. Is it that Christ was crucified? Or some other random story depicting a Christian belief?
In the end, the Bible is a book that tells a story of God and his son Jesus Christ and give details as to the beliefs of Christianity.
So while the Bible is not a absolute fact for fact, it can't be fact for fact while being an effective teaching guide of Christianity. So it may be a stretch to say the framers of the Bible didn't take the Bible seriously, I can understand your frustration of the Bible.
But here is a suggestion: The Bible is a human text. Written by man. So take the most important parts of the Bible or even the most important teachings of Christianity - that "Christ died for your sins" - and then read the Bible and interpret it from that statement. And what sticks is right for you and what doesn't? Well, it doesn't.
Don't believe the farce of ideology of "we'll either you believe in the Bible as a whole or not at all" . . .

Fulfill any 280 prophecies and that would account to silver dollars being piled 12 feet high across the state of Texas. Fulfill 560 prophecies and that would be equivalent to a stack of silver dollars reaching to the moon and back twice. The idea that the New Testament compliments the Old Testament is probably not news to you. But men from all different societies and different walks of life and being raised by different parents at different times writing about the same thing is very rare. To say that there are discrepancies is a misnomer. The one thing that I found was that scripture that declares love is not easily angered. Easily isn't in the original text. Easily is a human term to try and humanize God.

I doubt that ALL Christians expect you to "believe the rest".
I know that *I* don't EXPECT you to believe ANYTHING in the Bible in your current state. The absence of faith is the absence of belief.
Only when you approach an issue with an open heart and an open mind will you find faith.
Thanks for the question. There's a lot to think about in it.

I'm a Christian and I believe every single word in the Bible.
2 timothy 3:16 says: All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness.
I do understand what you are saying Christians that don't believe in every part of the Bible can't tell you what to believe and what Not to believe. But I do believe in it all and I promise you it's not fictional it's 100% real.

It is a sad commentary when anyone, especially one who claims to be a believer, thinks that they can judge the authority of a miraculous Book - The Bible, that claims to be God-breathed throughout the Old and New Testament Scriptures.(2 Tim 3:16-17)
God-breathed is the literal meaning of the words translated "inspired by God", greek - theopneustos. It refers to all the Scriptures.

It's all 100% truth....a real Christian would not say some parts are true and some parts are not. When you look into the mirror, do you say part of that reflection is you and the other part is someone else? Well, the Bible is like looking into the mirror of our souls.....it can be ugly, but if you take God's side against yourself and admit you're a sinner, the reflection becomes something beautiful, that of the image of Christ!

If you have a person claiming to be a christian and they are confessing to not believing parts of the bible, then you are not amongst a true christian.Profession of faith in Jesus Christ and the bible should be said with great conviction. If that person is doubting the infallibility of the bible then they are a lukewarm christian, and in doubt to their devotion to the lord.

Why are you bothering yourself with religion that is not yours? I don't want to know is yours truth, I respect it. Now one does not expect nothing from you. And why do you have that filling that someone wants to convince you in something. You just believe in your God and your Bible or however you call it and have a peaceful mind and love for everyone. Do you think that there is something more important?
