Urango is the IBF Jr. Welterweight champ of the world. Hatton is fighting him to get his title back. Does Urango have a shot in this fight? Will it be competitive? Will Hatton "choke" again like he did against Collazo? I ask that last question knowing that he's not fighting in the comfy cozy surroundings of Manchester, and London. Does Ricky have to win this fight impressively and in spectacular fashion to gain recognition and respect in the States?
Or can he get away with another flat unimpressive performance like he did against Collazo?

You must give Ricky props. He seems to be cutting his safety net fighting for the second consecutive time outside of England.

Or is it that Urango's people said if he wanted a title shot he had to Juan in the good ol' US of A?

I know that you know what a big Hatton fan i am so answering this question makes me look completely biased but this is just my true opinion.
Hatton wont choke, he will walk through Urango, Hatton is so hungry for success and acknowledgement in America it will take a hell of a fighter to stop him at Light Welter. I also think another reason for him putting on a show will be to try to erase the memories of the Collazo fight from the American publics mind, i mean its different for me i have probably seen all of his last 20 fights and i know what he can do, a lot of the American fight fans will only of seen him against Collazo and i agree it weren't impressive but believe me theres more to come from Hatton a lot more.
Please don't just judge him on this one bad performance i see every time Hatton gets mentioned the Collazo fight gets brought up, there were a lot of factors involved that night against him but he still came through although i know only just, but he doesn't fight like that every time believe me and i think you will see a different fighter in this next fight.
As for that last bit of the question i don't think he could get away with another unimpressive display i don't think HBO would be happy with their investment at all, and i think this is all the more reason for Hatton to turn it on against Urango.
The bit about Urangos people saying only in the USA i think might not be right, i think it was something to do with the deal HBO gave Hatton in which i believe was for the first 3 fights to be fought in America. Obviously to try and build up a following over there like he has over here before they try and stick him on ppv not that any of you Americans would pay to see a British fighter. So i dont know why they are trying.
Great questions got me thinking.

Brent,
I've left a couple answers to your questions a little open-ended, like the kid chocolate answer and my best five pick of foreman's knockouts. So I'll try to be specific here (note that I am a Hatton fan and any bias is unintentional) Urango does have a shot at this fight. Nothing is for certain in the "sweet science". There are too many uncontrolled variables with regard to climate, time change, unofficial weight, ect, and to definitely state that Urango does not have a shot would be incorrect. I have seen stranger things happen, Like Lennox Lewis getting knocked slap out by Hassim Rachman, who would've thought? I watched the crowds hush as Roy Jones Jr. got knocked out.
It should be competitive. Urango has probably had about as comparable opponents as Ricky, from what I have seen. I don't think that Hatton will "Choke" again. He may have some anticipation issues leading up to the bout with regard to not having his home crowd, but as you know, once you're in the fight a couple rounds, take a few licks, you forget about the crowd and the only thing you are aware of is you, your opponent, the ref always getting in the friggin' way, and your corner yelling at cha. I do think that an impressive win would push some of the people that are on the edge of being a hatton fan across that line, and that this win would be and integral one for his career and popularity in the US. If he just gets a couple point decision, he's going to have to go after a bigger name, fight a better fight, and kick his personality up a notch. Most leisure boxing fans like flashy fighters with lots of personality, and the leisure boxing fan is what gets the buzz going, because us avid fighters and fans are usually in small circles So, to sum it up: Yes, Yes, No, Yes. Thanks for another great question.

In my opinion, hats must come off for Ricky, he at least making an effort to silence his critics although I think he has a long rough road ahead of him at least he's trying. The last time he tested the waters he almost drowned against Collazo.
I don't blame the Urango camp for not wanting to go to England to fight, he'd have to practically kill Ricky to get a win there, not only would he be fighting Ricky and the crowd, referee Micky Vans sure likes Ricky enough to never caution him or take away a point from him.
The biggest name on Juan Urango's resume' is Mike Arnaoutis other than that nothing jumps out, in a way he's very similar to Ricky when it comes to quality of opposition, here they are dead even.
This is a contest that I hope Ricky wins and if he wins his title back he should learn a thing or two from his past and realize that he has to leave his comfort zone to become a good fighter, right now Ricky and Great don't belong in the same sentence.
Look for Ricky's smotering style to be just a bit too much for Juan. Ricky might get a bit busted up in the process though. Ricky stops Jaun in 8 rounds, if Ricky doesn't beat Juan, him and Naz can meet at their favorite pub and tell eachother "How Great they were."
Thanks Brent.
