Is it cup for cup? Any tips? I have never done it before. Is it good in any recipe?

I substitute cup for cup. I have used applesauce in brownies, muffins, and just about any quick bread. Sometimes, if I'm making apple muffins or pumpkin bread I use cinnamon flavored applesauce just for a little extra spice. :-)

I use at least a cup of applesauce in place of the oil, in cake mix receipes. I kinda use my own judgement and just try to make sure it isnt too sloppy, so you could start with the same amount as the receipe calls for oil, and then judge for yourself whether you think its the right consistency to bake or cook or whatever your going to do with it. It really makes a moist cake when used in place of oil, and less calories to boot.

I always used whatever amount of oil it calls for that would be the same amount of applesauce. I always had good luck with it.

It is cup for cup. A little more than a cup doesn't hurt. You can use it for baking cakes. I have not heard it used for anything else though.

Its my understanding that you can replace 1/2 of the oil with like amount of applesauce.

BTW - I love mountain laurel. I saw it up in Cape Cod & tried to grown here in west TN, but its just too hot.
