I have some in my liquor cabinet that have been opened and used a few times, that are about 9 years old. Liquor ages and does not spoil, as long as the lid is put back on and secured.

As long as you want to keep it around. Whiskey, vodka, rum, gin... Those shouldn't be a problem to swig down in the future... Schnapps's on the other hand have sugar that will probably crystalize after a long enough period (aftershock is a great example of that - though not all schnapps will be as 'cool'). They are still safe to drink... will likely be a bit more syrupy.

If the owner of the bottle puts a tiny mark on the label, to track how much is drunk by the level in the bottle, you can drink it all and replace it with tea, tea is the same color as brandy or whisky and tea will keep for years also.

Well it will last as long as forever as long as its sealed from air, which would cause the alchohol to evaporate!
