ive known this guy for ages.we meet up on weekends whenever we are in town on the same nite. ive stayed over his place a few times but havent slept with him.
hes been chasing me for over a year. even when i was with my ex for 6 years he was chasing me and he still is now that ive split from my ex (not coz of this guy).he knows that ive split from my ex. why wont he ask me out on a proper date?does he really like me?

Well... in my opinion (as a bloke)... if hes been chasing after you then he probably likes you. He may just be too shy to ask you out, for fear of rejection or damaging your friendship.

we never really know why people do what they do..we can all take our little guesses ...so ill take a shot ...he respects you and the friendship he knows you are vulnerable and doesn't want to take advantage of that ..you say he was chasing you while you were going w someone else well that kind of blows my theory out of the watter then. some times men like to chase women that are unavailable it is an ego thing make sure you are really even interested in this guy firs then ask him flat out hey are we going to keep this on the friendship wagon or are we going to give a date a try ... see how he reacts but i suggest even though you think you know him well take your time before getting romantically intimate to find out his intentions fully so he doesn't just take you for a ride then drop u off ....i just have i bad feeling about some one that would pursue some one that is taken it just shows that this person doesn't find other peoples bonds as reverent which makes me think if you got serious with him he wouldn't necessarily be serious with him carefull with this one

It's pretty obvious that he's attracted to you, and not just physically. I think maybe you should reach out and ask him out. Or casually mention getting together by yourselves and spending time with one another. That might help him realize that you like him back and he'll be less afraid to ask you on a date. Don't be afraid to make the first move.

Maybe the years of rejection have given him cold feet. He probably just needs some encouragement. Why don't you be the first to ask HIM out on a simple date? It'll probably rock his world.

yea he probably does, but he's scared or too nervous to ask you out in case you say no: sounds like you've been friends for a while, and most people get scared when the idea of taking a friendship to the next level comes up. if you want him to ask you out, or if you like him, i recommend you just tell him to be honest hun! for me, i think yes he likes you but he's just not yet ready to ask you out bec of some private reasons. remember.. patience is a virtue... you just have to learn for the right time for this guy to ask you out. i think this guy is really great bec he respects you.. even though you were staying over his place... he's intentions are still good.... just wait believe me.. ive been though that experienced before.. jave faith... ;) if he really likes you and if you like him... you'll wait for the right time.
