First off Sunbathing is bad for Acne it irritates it this has bee proven scientifically on many occasions.
Second the ONLY foods that bother acne are shellfish, this is also science and not old wives tales. (though standing over a deep fryer is not good for your acne)
There are several products on the market that treat acne, you will never be rid of it though, not even Accutane does that.
The Products
Proactiv (this is the best)
Neutragena (this line is also excellent)
Natures Cure (also a very good product)
Proactiv has the most success stories and I would try it first if I were you. It worked for me very well, within a month my face was 80% clearer than before and over the years I have maintained and gained.
Don't believe in the food and suntanning advice it is bad, any dermatologist will tell you this.

I struggled with acne for years and I finally found the solution that works for me. We have been fooled, tricked, deceived, and just plain lied to. It's time that someone put a stop to it, and everyone learn the truth!
Those of us who suffer from acne have usually been given 2 choices and neither of them work:
1. Over the counter remedies such as cleansers, creams, ointments, etc. These things have been proven over and over again not to work. Why? It does not address the root cause of the problem.
2. Go see a doctor and or dermatologist. They will generally prescribe prescription drugs which include topicals and or antibiotics. This, too, has been proven over and over again not to work. Why? It does not address the root cause of the problem.
I found a step-by-step program that cured my acne and it has never come back. It is amazing and doesn’t use any drugs or doctors. The truth is that acne can be cured…if we know the secret the doctors and drug companies don’t want us to know.
There is a great website: http://cure-my-acne.info/3daycure/ that has all the details. I really suggest you check it out and see if it works as well for you as it did for me.

if you've just started to see the acne then start w/ a mild cleanser. when i first got ace i made the mistake of using strong products. a good brand is neutragena clean and clear....i use morning rejuvination with bursting beads. it you have oily skin use astringent too. do this method twice a day (morning and night is usually best) and don't scrub too hard. rinse off the cleanser with warm water but don't rinse off the astringent. if you have consistent breakouts thn you might wanna try something a little stronger. when i have breakouts, i use acnefree (it's the comparison brand to proactiv...it's the same thing, only u don't pay as much and u don't have to order in online or by snail mail) for a a few weeks and it goes away. use it consistently and you'll begin to c results. hope this helps!!!!

OK lets be real, acne's a b**** and it's the worst thing to get over but its not impossible. The best thing out there for it right now is Acutane, but, it is not for everyone that's why it is only obtained by a Dr's prespription. Some people tend to be allergic to the medicine, for a few percentage it does not work for, but usually it does, for everyone, even though after you stop using it the acne comes back, like with every other medicine after the treatment is over. It is really harsh on your body though, for women they can't take contraceptives or have kids due to some serious problems that can occur while taking it, other people experience horrible peeling and dryness.
Apart from all this, i used to have acne, apparently not bad enough for Acutane (according to my dermatologist) but it was still bad (at least i thought it was), so i was recommended this over the counter medicine called "Nature's Cure". They have two medicines, one formulated for men, and another for women, and among these they have the topical creams and face washes as well as pills that work from the inside out. I personally tried the cream and face wash. Since i started using it i have yet gotten another pimple, seriously, my face is progressing miraculously, alot of the blemishes are gone, almost all. Smooth skin, it does dry it a little bit but barely, everyone's complimented on it. A few more weeks and my face will be completely clear. To help with this i also get facials done, everyonce in a while to help with the deep cleaning, which helps alot to remove stubborn clogs and blackheads and so forth.
I know not all of these over the counter medicines work for everyone, like myself that i've tried Proactive and Murad and all those things and i actually got my face worse due to them. But this one worked, see if you can find it in a neighborhood pharmacy or drugstore, or supermarket (which some of them also sell them), or online in their website.
About a diet, the main cause of acne is not your diet, eating chocolate or drinking too much soda, it's an old wife's tale, BUT a good diet will prevent excess oils in the skin which will clog pores and cause breakouts.
The main cause of acne are your body's hormones, we can't fix those with a change in diet. For me i go to the gym about 5 days a week, and excercise, this helps your metabolism break fatty acids that may affect your hormone production, as well as providing an overall well being for the body and get you nice and fit, a little blood to the old pump is sometimes the best remedy for current health problems as well as future undeveloped ones.
Stress is another factor that people a lot of the time don't consider, it does affect your acne because too much stress will trigger hormone production in the body and well you know the rest. Try to take life easily, i know sometimes it's hard but you gotta try, for my stress, excercise wipes it all out, and it usually does for a lot of people so think about it.
Well i hope this helps you and good luck with what ever you end up trying.

There are a few things that you can try. I have had luck with rubbing alcohol, but it kind of stings a bit if you have acne that is (and I hate to sound distasteful) popped. Another thing that I have had luck with is Calamine lotion. This draws out the oil in the skin ( use it after u wash ur face and before u go to bed.). There are also prescription meds that can help, but your dermatologist would have to recommend something. Good Luck

you know i used to have pretty clear skin but had a few pimples so i tried proactive, and that seriously just made it worse. it turned from a few pimples on my chin, to acne all over my face that caused several scars. i was seriously horrified but i was afraid if i stopped using it, it would get worse. but i stopped using it and started using cetaphil gentle cleanser and vinger as toner let it dry and put normal toothpaste ( not whitening or gel) on the pimples over night and it has serious cleared up. once a week i rule a lemon over my face and finish it off with aloe vera and no more acne! let me tell you i started getting cystic pimples, it was the worst and now im all clear. i am so very happy. its true that sometimes the less chemicals you put in your face the better. natural is the way to go. not only is my face clearer, but it is smooth and just looks overall healthy. i am very happy, please try this it might work for you. i know the misery acne brings lol
even if this doesnt work for you, try anything. you never know what exactly works for YOU. but i would say try natural ingredients and try to avoid products!

go to a dermatologist. I had some serious breakouts recently and nothing... and i mean nothing would clear my skin... i went to a dermatologist who prescribed me pills i take 2x a day, injected (no it doesnt hurt) the really stubborn pimples that wont go away and have this cream (called Differin) that I apply every night. Then i would go every month (for 4 months) and alternate between microdermabrasion and chemical peel... my face is now like that of a baby.. my insurance covered it too.. i only paid $15 per visit. check with your insurance provider... goodluck!

I had the same problems even as an adult. Do not scrub your face, wash and pat dry. Also, try makeup and face cleaning products that are made with Salycic Acid. Neutrogena has lot's of affordable products, makeup and skin care made with Salycic Acid. Good Luck.
