If a resident from another country marries a US citizen how long will it take for that person to be able to come to the US? The paperwork was filed with immigration in April.

If the petition was filed in April 2006, it shouldn't be long. But it depends on the workload at the embassy in Jamaica. You might be able to check with the National Visa Center; maybe they can give you some idea, since I believe the schedule the immigrant visa interviews for Kingston. Here is how to contact them:

it depends on the country where the person is coming from. My friend has been trying to get her hubby over from Jamaica for 2 years.

It could take a long long time. It will probably cost a lot too. They are really hard on people. Depends on your situation.

Do like my brother did, he got his citizen 4 months ago...he Hired a lawyer(IMMIGRATION ATTORNEY). it took him less then 3 months to get his wife here. we are from morocco(north africa)..i dont know if its diff from your country
