I don't think that if you are going to the movies with friends and you ask him to go along it isn't considered a date. But you do need to make sure that you are respecting his answer to you about dating. If you ask him to go along with you and some friends, just as friends, then there isn't a problem with that.

usually when guys say no more than once, it will stay that way.
About asking him to the movies with your friends...
It all depends. If he doesnt know your friends, yes it could be considered a date.
