God didn't ask that we believe in him. The church said, "you better believe in our God, or you're worshipping the Devil, and you'll burn in hell forever! And in this life we'll burn you as a Witch, even if you're not one!" Did you also know that before the raise of the Judeo-Christian religion there was no mention of hell. And even then when the Judeo-Christian religions came along, Hell didn't even have flames and all that, it was just invented centuries later to scare the church-going folk into going to church even more!

The simple fact is that you DON'T have to believe God.
God gave you a mind to THINK with and the ability to DOUBT. With that (and an open heart) you also have the ability to have FAITH.
Proof is what we require when we lack faith.
Proof is what we have no need of when we have faith.
What would be the value of faith if proof was easy and available?

Because He knows Satan will allure us and urge us into not believing. We - humanity - is at a stage when our minds are strong and open and we have the mental abitlity to think, analyse, debate and argue. We get conceited and think we are enough; we feel too sure of our convictions that we need 'materialistic evidence' to believe.
Allah knows all this and asks us to believe. He could have created us all believers - good ones too - but what about choices and free will?
By the way, I thumbed up your question, good one ;)

We don't have to believe in him. Belief is a personal choice.
Only if we want to be saved from eternal slavery to Satan, which is the default condition for all "natural born" humanity, do we need to swear faithful allegiance to Jesus Christ, who is God, and get baptized into his church.
See? No problem!

God is real.
Do you have to believe it? No, that's why God gave each of us free will, to make our own decisions. But if you don't believe in God, then be prepared to face the consequences of your decision.
Someday you will wish you had believed.

Who said God was a fact. Would you rather die thinking there was a God and find out there isn't...or die thinking there wasn't a God and finding out there is.
