Times are always changing and you will encounter in your life all kinds of different people. Since biblical times the story of the good Samaritan has repeated itself countless. I am glad and proud of those who stop and do their best to help others, and I sure do not pay attention to those that have a morbid curiosity and do not aid others in need. Focus with a good heart on the good Samaritans and you will see that nothing is wrong with people these days.

Theres only so much you can do after an accident unless you are a certified paramedic or doctor. A perfect example is that the only thing you were capable of doing for that woman was to comfort her(which is important) but other than that your hands were tied.
Ive been at the scene of 3 accidents and the most I could do was comfort those involved. When someone is trapped you cannot move them and the truth is you shouldn't move an accident victim unless they are burning to death in the vehicle.
If you move an accident victim as an unqualified individual you risk the chance of killing them(due to aggravating internal injuries or head injuries) or possibly paralyzing them due to spinal cord trauma. DONT play hero its not worth it. Allow the professionals to do their job.
Its very possible some of those people saw the 3 of you comforting the victims and they felt the amount of comforting going on was sufficient. Again theres not a whole helluva alot you can do unless your a professional. Taking matters in to your own hands could easily kill someone this is FACT.
Concerning the cell phone pictures. That's just disgusting and immature. Yes those people have serious issues

I really cannot imagine nobody helping. I mean even if there was a small accident we used to stop for help (and still do). This must have been a terrible image, making us realize that once we've parted from sb, no matter what age, sex or health there might be the last time we see that person. My bf (30yrs) suddenly was brought into open heart surgery some time ago, and then I was really confronted with my own mortality and that one of those around me. I can only hope this helped U. If U cannot get over it after a while, consider taking some counseling, there's no shame in that.

This was a very serious accident. Untrained passersby should not attempt to move seriously injured people for fear of making their injuries worse. Just what were the people supposed to do?
I agree that the picture-taking is just plain sick.
If a person can get close enough to comfort an injured person without putting themselves in danger (fire, explosion, leaking gas, etc) they could have done that, but not much more.
People are basically the same as they have always been, but we have more toys to play with now (phones that take pictures). Sometimes those toys are misused, but maybe someone was able to call 911 quickly.
People have to use their common sense and not do anything to make a bad situation worse. Sometimes doing nothing IS best. Sorry, but the people did the right thing.

That sounds horrible... I'm so sorry for your ordeal... at least you tried to step in to help.. that must have been awful.... I hope it didn't cause you any problems emotionally- you are a very kind person
To answer your question.. I don't know why ppl don't step in and help and just stand around and watch... but if I had to guess as to some people's problems.. I would guess people worried about blood borne illnesses like Hepatitis or HIV probably has something to do with it... with all that blood and touching bloody people without the proper safety materials it could easily infect the person trying to help if the other was infected... some people may just be scared, they actually don't want to see people dead and some people blood makes them faint... some may not want to touch someone in case of other injuries, such as head, spine or internal bleeding, if someone has a head injury and you move them it could actually kill them- people are different.. some people have fears that others don't.....

Ok, ok, ok since when is leaving a cutsie note on a lunch box considered chivalry? I would say a guy that puts a cutsie note on a lunch box was a girl! I don't think I ever seen a guy pick me a flower unless were in a field of them! If some guy shows up at my door with freshly picked flowers saying they reminded him of me. Not only and I thinking he is weird I am checking my neighbor flower boxes. Look some guys do have a hard time being romantic in fact some guys are not romantic at all. Romance comes in many forms. For some it's a candle lit pizza, for some it's a nice dinner. Romance means nothing more than a act of recognition and emotion. Not all dudes run there girlfriends bubble baths. You need to let your dude know you even like them to begin with. I mean geez, when was the last time your friend even took a bubble bath? Has her man ever even seen her take one? It's hard for a guy to do something romantic if you don't let him know what you think is really romantic. Men are not mind readers. They'll do it if you put out the right signals and messages. What about every time a guy opens a door for you and waits for you to pass through before he does or opens you car door? I mean if your not dating guys that do the little things your simply dating the wrong guys.

Ever watch Fear Factor. For reassons of insanity humans like to see horrble things like eating bugs observing car crashes. I guess it gives them some kind of adrelling rush or it's just the thing were u can't look away from something horrible. The only way I could help would be is to call 911 and stay. I don't have the expertise to pull a injured person from a car without hurting them more. Also reporters are just trying to get the best story. Reporting is quite competative these days.

I wish I knew. I'm very sorry you had to encounter that. My wife and I came upon a bad accident once, just after it happened. Therew ere four or five carloads there helping. We went on our way as things seemed to be under control. It was just a two-lane road so there seemed to be no point blocking up the road for the emergency services.
Not much of an answer, I know. Hopefully you will receive strength from messages of support here.

i am so sorry you had to be a part of this. This has to be the most horrible thing i have ever heard. People have become so very insensitive and ill mannered. That is just a ridiculous act of non humanity i have ever heard of. If they had cell phones they should have been dialing 911 or running for blankets to cover people to keep them warm in case of shock or talking to people to try to keep them calm. What is wrong with the world, i think we are actually living in the last days, there are devils walking among us. And you clearly seen a perfect example of humanity at its worst. God bless you for your compassion and kindness to strangers. May God forgive them for obviously they did not realize how insensitive and crazy their behaviors were. they could not have. I hope you can begin to heal after witnessing such a horrible tragedy.

Oh my goodness! I can't even fathom running into that. What does a person do? Definitely NOT take pictures and gawk! This is a time for praying and compassion. I know what you mean with people though. Its getting worse and will continue to do so. Its actually really pathetic.
