No one is safe from arthritis. You get it as you get older. You get it whether you crack your knuckles or not because this is part of the normal wear and tear process of our body. Those crackling sounds are due to gas bubbles around the joints. This is why you can't crack your fingers again immediately. You have to wait around 10-15 minutes for the bubbles to form again around the joints before you can crack again. Try it!

Not that I have come accross. The thought is that arthrits may starts with some infections that have not healed etc. If we know the answer then it would be easier to find a cure, or at least how to avoid it.

When I was a child I was watching a crane lifting a huge iron ball in order to demolish a house.
The road was wet, and as the ball was pulled over it, there were multable miniture explosions. I asked the foreman what they were, and he said that they were steam caused by the friction........ the same as pulling your fingers. !!!!!!!!!!!!!

yes...when you crack your knuckles you are actually popping the little sacs that keep your joints from rubbing together...your knuckles will swell and will cause you pain and discomfort and eventually lead to arthritis. for facts you can try www.webmd.com
